I have rich curly locks and a splendid Saint's cap which is of course too good for beating you with, I'll have to purchase a proper bludgeoning hat

A_S_G,
I would have agreed with you that Guild Wars was boring a few hours ago but I just came back from PvPing and I suddenly realised the point of the game.
The fun part of Guild Wars is PvP.
You start a PvP character and you pretty much can PvP off the bat.
Everyone has the same "good items" and you can tweak them with minor enhancements ie Runes/components but in the end the difference isn't extraordinary but nice to have anyways.
It all boils down to intelligent use of the skills you provide and select.
Now, what's the point of PvM (PvE) then?
It's mainly for unlock more skills and runes/components so that your PvP character has access to them when he/she starts up. Every game has a boring tedious part to it that you have to do if you want to be "better". For Diablo II, farming and trading were the unavoidable boring parts of improving one's character. In Guild Wars, the tedious/boring part is PvM, questing and exploring further into the story so you can access and discover more different skills and discover more components.
Those that play Guild Wars to enjoy the PvM are wasting their time.
It took me ages to realise this but Guild Wars is a dueling game with an RPG twist and not the other way around.
