The most useful that I've tried are Infinities (I have 3 of them now ). And don't forget to make tons of Spirits. These ones are really cheap, and very useful.

OMGZ ME TOO. kk lets brag about other kool rw's. i have like 18 enigma, 12 coh, only 4 botd =\ but all 400+

if you can come close to affording it, infinity is teh pwn. or you could make like an insight and pretend the ral is an ohm and its a godly rw. =o

Basically any ladder-only (cheap) runeword might be useful to make before the reset.
Hence, "ladder only", they're valuable on non-ladder.
Though I agree with the majority, spirit & infinity are great, obedience is nice & cheap too.
I have a couple of spirits, greif, fortitude & obedience myself now.

I only have 6 ists, so that makes me able to buy a Lo rune to make a fortitude infinity is to expensive for me so ill stick with spirits and fortitude

Spirit gets different stats depending if it's made on an armor or a weapon.
I'd say you should try both.
