Blizzard vs Orb/Storm

Hi everyone!

I want to make a new Sorceress but I´m not sure how I want it.

Either I would like to make a Blizzard Sorceress:

1 Frost Nova
20 Blizzard
20 Cold Mastery
20 Ice Bolt
20 Ice Blast
20 Glacial Spike

Total: 101 points

Otherwise I would make an Orb/Thunder Storm Sorceress:

9 Prerequisites
20 Frozen Orb
20 Cold Mastery
20 Ice Bolt
20 Thunder Storm
20 Lightning Mastery

Total : 109 Points

What do you think? Perhaps The Blizzard Sorc is better since the spare points could be put in teleport, an armor skill, warmth or Static field.

Also, an act 2 merc with Infinity, would that be good for these builds?

Oh one last thing. Stat points. How much energy is needed?

Thunderstorm is weak - of those two builds, definitely Blizzard. Though you'd have a unique build with the Thunderstorm

I'd also go with Blizzard, because T-storm sucks Maybe you could substitute it with Firewall...20 Firewall + 20 Fire Mastery would be cool.

Infinity is excellent for all sorc builds and is also a very nice merc weapon, go for it!

People usually don't put any points in energy (unless they use energy shield). Because 1.10 is quite dangerous most people prefer life over mana...also Shako, Frostburns, SOJs, Silkweave, Glooms Trap, etc boost mana quite a lot so you can get by fine with no points in energy. If you feel like you're lacking mana, it's not a crime to put points in energy...alternatively use some mana charms.

On a sidenote it's going to take a long time to get that many skill points so don't expect to finish those builds anytime soon.

I'm currently making a Orb/Energy Shield sorc. I think it'll do better than orb/TS, but I'll have to get off my butt and actually start leveling her to find out.

I just wonder if it´s a good idea to mix Fire and Ice?

My old Sorceress used Fire Wall and Frozen Orb. I´m not sure if I wanna make a new one exactly similar to that, but Fire Wall and Blizzard could be fun.

I just wonder if perhaps a Blizzard with maxed synergies could be powerful instead...

One more thing, what is the lowest resistance an enemy can have. I meen when you use Cold Mastery.
And What happens when Infinity breaks immunites with Conviction Aura? How much does it lower their resistances and how does it work together with Cold Mastery?

If you really can afford Infinity, I'd love to make that Blizzard+HydraSorc..

I made one, but since I'm poor & play only SP, it just didn't quite cut it in hell..

i myself play orb/hydra,and consider to be a good match.hydras make great watch dogs for around corners and covering your back trail.especially in the worldstone chamber when there are gloams.i can finish hell alone with no problems.
the down side is you have to be patient,this is not a fast killing machine when there are cold immunes.though a good merc helps.

Speaking of mercs, what would be a good choice? I was thinking of perhaps using one from act2 with Holy Freeze. What do you think?

Another thing, is there anyone who can tell if there is a maximum limit for how much negative resistance enemies can get with cold mastery?

Act 2 Holy Freeze is a very good merc for a sorc and in my opinion the best! go for it.

The maximum amount of negative resists a monster or player can get is -100%...This applies to both Cold Mastery, Lower Resist, Facets and Conviction.
