    Upgrading Uniques

I know that it can be done from a normal unique to an exeptional.
I also know that in ladder games, it can be done from an exeptional unique up to an elite.
What I want to know is if I can take a normal unique, (for example a unique gull dagger) to an exeptional, (a unique gull dagger that is a Poignard)
and then upgrade the same unique to an elite (a gull dagger that is a Bone Knife)
    Is this possible?

yes it is. assuming that you play on ladder, all normal uniques can be upgraded to elite uniques, however you must first upgrade them to exceptional in order to get them unique.
Gull Bone Knife is no problems to make, however making one just wouldnt make sense since it would get too high reqs to be funny

You can upgrade normal uniques into exceptional uniques both on Non-Ladder and on the Ladder. However, it's only the upgrade from exceptional to elite, that can only be done on the Ladder.

    Thank you for the help!
Although I was mainly using "gull" as an example, your post about it being to high of a requirement brings up another question for me.
How do the requirements change when upgrading? Are the new requirements the same as the reqirements for the base non-unique exeptional/elite item that it is upgraded to?
For example: Are the requirements for a unique gull bone knife the same as the requirements of a normal (white text) bone knife?

Yes, the strength and dexterity requirements are always of the base item, unless the item has a "-x%requirements" mod. However, the level requirement will not be the same. There's a formula for figuring out the level requirement on upgraded items, but I forgot what it is. Until you find it, you can use this calculator for upgraded items:

Maybe you can figure it out from using it.

It's the highest Clvl required on the item, which includes the Clvl req from the unique, socketed jewels/runes/gems, and the base item, plus 5 going from normal to excep, plus 7 when going from excep to elite, and finally +12 (+5 + 7) when going from normal to elite.
