I remembered this story i read a long time ago in school about a totalitarian society where EVERYONE was absolutely equal; they had technology to keep it that way. In this hypo society, no one was a genius because a helmet they wore interrupted them when they had a thought, no one was pretty or handsome because they wore an ugly mask, i dont remember what else. In the end of this story, some guy disobeyed the rules and some person shot him with a double barrel shotgun.
What's the point of this thread? Well, since our society strives to be totally equal for ALL kinds of people of all backgrounds and genders, should we strive to be like the society in the story where everyone is equal or should have some imperfections?
I think that our society could be better than it currently is, but should never be like the one in the story.
double barreled shotguns for everybody!
Were you thinking of this?
I'm reasonably certain that this is precisely the point Mr. Vonnegut was trying to make.Originally Posted by Luckymofo
