Spears and Rune Words

I'm wondering--the Arreat Summit doesn't list any rune words for "spears"...do they count as polearms for rune-word purposes, or are there just no rune words that can be put in a spear?

nope, they are not counted as polearms, i found that out when i made obedience in a 5 sock etheral warspike to get a gemmed war spike.

I think anything that needs a 'melee weapon' will work...

I can see why Verbatim is dissapointed since there are many runewords that work in only polearms and that makes it harder for a spear armed Amazon. Why did Blizzard not make at least some of them spear/polearm? It is not as though spears are dominant weapons.:rolleyes: or that spear armed Amazons an over powered class.

:( Well, thanks for the info--guess that means I can give up the quest for an eth 4os Mancatcher for the -20 base weapon speed...an eth 4os giant thresher will have to be the goal (and they're probably much harder to find *sniffle*).

Passion is tailor made for any melee based Amazon which is the only character that can make real use of all it's mods. The fact that Berserk makes you immune to Iron Maiden is a nice bonus too.
