Gear:
ARMOR:
1. Fortitude -> huge dmg, good defence, some nice rez, +5% max lightning rez and 1life/lvl enough reasons to wear this armor in most situation, by far the best armor for the vindecator.
2. Enigma -> +2 all skills, 45% fr/w, huge strength bonus, +8% life, nice armor but you`ll be sacrificing a lot of damage.
3. Stone -> 60% fhr, str, vit, rezist and huge def, good if you can`t afford Fortitude.
4. CoH -> +2 all skills, 8% DR, 65 all rez, 20 str, low def, nice armor but not so good for the vindecator.
-*-*-*make this runewords in superior archon plate for the best def and low str req*-*-*-
5. Arkaine's Valor -> +2 all skills, 30 fhr, nice +0.5vit/lvl, good armor, but i`ll go for a runeword.
6. Leviathan -> 15%-25%dr, 40-50 str bonus, nice def, you don`t need the +str since this would be the haviest item, not so good.
7. Steel Carapace -> +20% fhr, huge def, self repair, good only if etheral for the insane def, good armor, but not the best.
Helm:
1. CoA -> +1 all skills, 10%-15% DR (+16 DR from the ber runes), 20-30 all rez, 30% fhr, 1-2 sokets and some nice def makes this helm godly for the vindecator.
2. Shako -> +2 all skills, 10% DR, nice life/mana boost, no rez, no fhr, only one soket, not so good for us.
WEAPON:
1. Greif B axe/ Phase Blade -> +340-400 dmg, 30%-40% ias and some other minor mods good at charge, but the dmg is insane!!! i`ll use the B axe over the Phase Blade because the range and low dex req. The best vindecator weapon in the game!!
2. Stormlash -> 30% ias, 33% CB, chance to cast static field& tornado, nice mods on this one, soket a shael rune for the best speed, or a ber rune for extra CB.
3. Kingslayer B axe -> 33% CB, 50% OW, 30% ias, +10 str, nice smite/charge weapon
4. Astreon's Iron Ward -> +2-4 combat skills, +40-85 dmg, 10% ias, 33% cb, nice, but since Greif this weapon is just a lil toy, soket a shael rune for more speed, Bm because the slows target by 25%.
5. Silence B axe/ Phase Blade -> +2 all skills, 20% ias, 20% fhr, +75 all rez, -20% req, a classic armor, good when you need some extra rez, not a good option as main weapon.
SHIELD:
1. upgr HoZ -> +2 all paladin skills, +2 combat skills, +20str/vit bonus, +50 all rez, nice def, +30% fbr, huge ctb, soket this one with an um rune for extra rez or with a ber rune for the DR bonus, by far the best vindecator sheild.
2. Exile in a eth superior Zakarum Sheild -> huge def, +2 offensive auras chance to cast life tap(Bm), 13-16 defiance aura when equipped, 30% fbr, +5% max cold& fire rez, self repair.
3. Phoenix in a superior Zakarum Sheild -> +350-400% enhanced damage, 50 life, low def, low ctb, good only for mass dmg.
BELT:
1. Verdungo's Hearty Cord -> 10% fhr, 30-40 vit, 10%-15%DR, the best melee belt in the game!!!
2. Thundergod's Vigor -> 20 str&vit bonus, +20 Lightning Absorb, 10% max lightning rez, nice when you duel lightning-based caracters.
GLOVES:
1. Dracul's Grasp -> 25% ow, 15 str, nice gloves but bm because the Life tap.
2. Blood Crafted gloves -> try to get 10+str, 10%cb, 15 life+, 20% ias, 2% life stolen, ideal vindecator
gloves.
BOOTS:
1. uprg Gore Rider -> 10%ow, 15%cb, 30% fr/w, good def, the best vindecator boots.
2. Sandstorm Trek -> 10-15 str&vit bonus, +20% fr/w & fhr, some good pzn rez, self repair, nice def if eth, nice mods, but try to get Gore.
RINGS:
1. bk -> +1 all skills, life/lvl, nice ring for a vindecator.
2. raven -> 15-20 dex, ar, cbf, vital for the vindecator beacause the cbf.
AMULET:
1. Mara -> +2 all skills, 5 all stats, 20-30 all rez -> perfect for the vindecator.
2. crafted ammy whit godly mods, very expensive, i`ll go for mara.
INVENTORY:
10 combat GC`s with life& fhr(to get the 86% fhr beakpoint), 8-9 small charms with life+rez, if need 1 sc with fhr and the annihilus.

Dueling strategies:
vs Socrs:
*easy duel. make sure you have the caster gear, use one absorb(raven/dwarf/wisp), and salvation aura. try to avoid the spells by running with charge and when you get a chance, go for it, they`ll do lil dmg to you if you have salvation+guardian+absorb+other rez gear. yes you`ll do quite lil dmg, but more than you take, since they have crappy fhr they can`t teleport away form you!
vs Wind druids:
*medium-hard duel. use the melee gear, as much as dr as you can(>40% dr), 86% fhr and cbf. try to avoid the tornados by running with charge. first of all try to kill the oak, and then charge the druid. with much practice you`ll kill them quite fast.
vs Melee druids:
*easy duel. just smite them, nothing special to do.
vs Bow amazons:
*easy-medium duel. you can tank their multi shot, so go for a fast-kill. use charge, since you need a fast kill.+40% dr and 86% fhr is the key to tank tem, since your def will be very high. they usualy have low life, so one charge is enough to kill them.
vs Lightning javazons:
*easy duel. use the melee gear, just swich verdungo with thundergod and the bk with a wisp, use some light rez sc. they usualy use charge strike, just smite them to death.
vs Plaguazons:
*easy-medium duel. use the melee gear, just swich the fortitude with venom ward. the`ll run alot so charge them. try to avoid to get poisoned, since they have a bow on swich.
vs Foh paladin:
*easy duel. use the caster gear, use fortitude since it gives +5% to max lightning rez. use thundergod and salvation aura. you`ll be imune to foh.
vs Zealot:
*easy duel. use the melee gear and smite them. they`ll try to use smite, don`t panic since they`ll do lil dmg.
vs Chargers:
*easy duel. use melee gear. they have one hit, if they miss, they`r dead, if not they`ll do some dmg to you, but not so much to kill you, be defensive in this duel and you`ll win 99% of the time.
vs Hammerdins:
*hard duel. near impossible, use melee gear since magic dmg can`t be negated. they usualy make a circle of hammers and stay there. if they`r idiots, they`ll try to teleport to you, if so, be ready to smite them, that coud be your chance.
vs Non-ww barbs:
*easy duel. use the melee gear and smite them. they die fast.
vs WW barbs:
*medium-hard duel. use melee gear your def is high, you always hit, he has a good def, not always hit. when they are in ww try to get in front of them and smite. never follow him, because if he ww away he`ll hit you often, don`t charge them!!! be smart in this duel, practice vs wwbarbs since they can be as smart as you.
vs Singers:
*easy duel. use melee duel and charge them, they usualy don`t have a sheild so you`ll always hit.
vs Poison necro:
*easy duel. stack pzn rez and use Venom Ward, charge them to death.
vs Bone necro:
*hard duel. near impossible, use melee gear since magic dmg can`t be negated. they usualy teleport and spam spirits/teeth/spear like idiots. try to charge them but you`ll do lil dmg to him because of the bone armor, ow is your best fried in this situation. charge him and run, after 8 sec try to charge again. practice, practice and practice.
vs Summonmancer:
*medium duel. try to have 75 all rez and good dr. it would be nice to equp a azurewrath to knock back his minions. try to hunt down the necromancer and charge/smite him to death.
vs Trapsin:
*medium duel. use the caster gear, use fortitude since it gives +5% to max lightning rez. use thundergod and salvation aura. you`ll be imune to the traps, but is annoying the mind blast that knock you back. avoid their mind blast and go for a one-hit-kill.
vs Kickers:
*easy duel. use melee gear. they can`t hit you, smite them.
vs WW sins:
*easy-medium duel. use melee gear, they`r a mini ww barb that uses huge pzn dmg, they have 50% dr, and 60%+ chace to block your smite, but they have lil chance to hit you, be sure that you have max pzn rez.
vs Smiters:
*easy-hard duel. use melee gear. here is more a battle of who has the best equipment, nothing special to do, be sure that you smite first.
Final words: Be smart in duels, practice and make the first hit! Peace!

You realize for fortitude you gave the stats for the weapon not the armor. The armor blows.
I didnt see anywhere if you specified this was a pubby guide; for some strats you just say "absorb them" and no real strat for someone who doesn't wear more than 1 absorb item. Sorry if it's somewhere and I missed it.
I dont know how much life this build will have...if you don't use enigma and you go for things like coa and upd gores you're going to need alot of str. The up'd gores aren't that useful since you already have lots of defense.
Hopefully no more "WHERE IS TEH SMITE GUIDE" Speaking of which the name shouldl be changed to Smiter guide, most of the people that come looking for "the smitah wit greif" don't know what Vindicator means.

the life depends on the char lvl, charms and the lvl of bo from cta... around 2600-3000 life after bo

if you use enigma, yes, you`ll have more life but you`ll be sacrificing a lot of damage...
I do just fine without grief, obviously since i'm in NL. I think more damage would be pretty redundant. There will be some classes that you won't be able to smite at all, so all the life you sacrificed for damage will be pointless.Originally Posted by TheKing
Most decent casters will not let you even get close enough to land a smite. In that case life is much much more important than a small damage addition of a few hundred points to an already 10K~ smite.
And you say that you'll be doing little damage IF you land a hit vs a caster. Now life is even more important since you yourself are saying that it'll be a slow duel. If the caster is smart and is defensive, it doesn't look good for the smiter.
I doubt 1000 or so extra damage (before pvp penalty) is worth sacrificing 1k+ extra life u will get. Just by using grief your damage will be insane.
