It takes a lvl 90 char about 5500 runs to reach 99. A 3:30 baal run is a fairly swift pace so that makes 321 hours. Reaching 90 will add on a few, so 330 hours would be a very quick 99.

You may get a better answer from a few of the others, I think some may have done both.

As jjscud said somewhere around 300 hours, DC did one of his pretty quickly, and I can remember getting from 97 - 98 in 2 weeks with my Paladin... of course 98 - 99 is much much longer.

It's a fair bit faster getting lvl 70 in WoW. For example I had a Hunter I leveled to 60 in 5 days and 10 hours, never got her to 70 but it wouldnt be much over 10 days played which is 240 hours. As long as you know where to quest and don't stay logged in while you afk you can take any class except possibly a Paladin to 70 before you'd reach 99.

Agree, I levelled a Warrior to 70 not long ago, did that in just over 8 days played, some seem to think that it is one of the slower classes to level too (not imo).

Also factor in that it's not easy getting the gear for a character to players 8 Baal run effectively. WoW you get items along the way to help you get to 70.

It's not even close. 99 in D2 takes far longer than 70 in WoW. You can get to 70 in 120-150 hours spent ingame without much effort if you know the game (I never did that fast because I didn't know the game well enough, but if I practiced I could do it for sure). For D2, 98-99 takes >300 hours by itself.
