Please help me decide wich shield to make "phoenix" with o

Iam making a smiter and have this two shields to choose from to make the runeword "phoenix" please help me decide wich one will be best and why.
1.- Vortex shield superior 26 all resists 250 def
2.- Vortex shield 40 all resists 190 defense
So should I go for higher defense or resists?

Since it is fairly spendy as far as rune words go I would probably wait for a higher def with 35+ res. But...on the other hand the def mod on it is only 10% so there is not as big a reason to wait for that really high def shield. So 190 def would be fine too. Hmmm choices, choices.

wait for a shield with better blocking (sacred rodachre) and 40+ resists - defense won't do crap for a runeword with 10% ED

Well, why is everyone going for the Vortex shields by the way? The difference in defense on all the elite shield isn't that great in my opinion. What does matter though is the block rate. I chose a Sacred Rondache with 41 all res because it gives me a pretty descent block rate of 58%. Vortex shields only have a block rate of 49%, which means you will have to invest way more points into dexterity to get 75% block. While my shield only has 140def, I still have 34k defense after I cast HS...

Vortex Shield is also heavier....more in strength. If it is not going to net that much defense (10% en. def.) it makes very little sense to use anything else but a Sacred Rondache or Sacred Targe.
