    Re: Fire Ranged Enchantress Sorc

Sorry to dig up the thread.

I read this guide and started wondering if I should try one. It really seems cool to play with.

Anyway, I would really like to have something doing 20K damage :P

I didn't quite understand if this build really can do that or "just" half.

Your listed damage is that 20k. But you do only what when you melee.
Not half, around 20%, depends how high your fire mastery is. So only around 5k fire damage while using bow (as fire mastery only once).

I've read somewhere (I can't it right now unfortunately) that enchant boosts the damage 1/3rd in ranged weapons.

If this is true in order to know the real damage I'll just have to reduce the enchant bonus to 1/3rd, add it the other fire damage I might have and multiply it all just once with the fire mastery bonus?

To this I add the other elemental damage with their bonus (using again the elemental masteries just once) and physical damage.

I all depends how high your fire mastery when you hit monsters.
Around 1/3 might be true, as your fire mastery is quite low when you use bow.

You need lvl 25 or lvl 26 fire mastery while using bow to get that 1/3 damage.
And lvl 39 or lvl 40 (very hard to get while using bow) to get only 1/4 damage.

Lvl 25 fire mastery gives 198%
Lvl 39 fire mastery gives 296%

But you do as much as your merc, so you can look from there how much damage your enchant adds. Look merc damage, cast enchant on him, look again and subtract those two.

    That's not really true.

What the char screen shows is enchant damage with Fire Mastery applied twice (the damage you do if you'd melee). To get your real ranged enchant damage just hover over the skill button with your mouse (of course with prebuff gear on if you use that).

    Re: Fire Ranged Enchantress Sorc

    I'm confused now.

    Let's imagine this situation:

Enchant casted with a level 34:
    Mana cost: 58
    Duration: 936 Seconds
    Attack Rating: +317%
    Fire damage: 1336 - 1594 (1465)
[Synergy] Warmth: +180% Fire damage (9% / Lvl)

Fire Mastery with a level 20:
    Fire damage: +163%

And I'm using the Demon Machine with fire and lightning damage charms and also using Lightning mastery.

A - Fire damage from the explosive bolts
    B - Enchant bonus (is it 1/3rd?)
C - Other fire damage from charms, for example
    D - Fire mastery
    E - Physical damage
    F - Lightning damage
    G - Lightning mastery

    (A+B+C)*(1+D)+E+F*(1+G)

    Is this right?

Edited: In another thread about the fire explosions NASE wrote this: http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...26&postcount=6

    If I understood this correctly:

With an explosive bolts enchanted ranged weapon:

    Monster that is hit directly:
Total damage = Fire Damage + Explosion Damage + Physical Damage + Lightning Damage

    Monster caught in the explosion:
    Explosion Damage

    Physical Damage is simple
Lightning Damage: The lightning mastery doesn't increase the lightning damage so it's just the light dmg
Fire damage: Enchant Bonus * (1+Fire Mastery) + Other Fire Damage
Explosion damage: The previous fire damage * (1+Fire Mastery)

Once again, no it's not 1/3rd. Forget about 1/3rd. 1/3rd has nothing to do with it.

    (A+B+C)*(1+D)+E+F*(1+G)

    Is this right?
    Nope, not at all.

The damage the bolt carries is:

Physical damage of bolt + Enchant damage (hover over skill button to know the amount) + damage of lvl x explosive arrow*(1+FM%) + charms (for ranged attack mastery doesn't work on charms)

    Damage of explosion is:

Enchant damage + damage of lvl x explosive arrow*(1+FM%/100) + fire charms

A target that gets hit by the bolt also gets hit by the explosion.

This is what stephan is referring to by this step.

Also, in the build guides thread here in the sorc forum is a guide by renegademaster. Iirc it's called something like "the Order of the Purifying Flame". Some of the gear can be a little expensive, and it's a melee/ranged hybrid, but the guide itself is very solid. Worth reading if you haven't come across it yet.

    Re: Fire Ranged Enchantress Sorc

Thanks guys, I finally got it.

Yesterday I copied every enchantress build to a pen and got the time to read each one carefully.

The one you mentioned was one of two guides I liked more. If I try a melee enchantress I'll go the dual dream way or pheonix/other helm way (with ranged switch or just the buff equipment switch).

I'm planning a ranged one with maxed ES and trying to find out a good way to do lots of lightning damage. I guess I'll post a thread with my ideas.
