The idea behind this is to use the Set to the best of it's ability.
I was thinking of a Fanat Pally with a Might Merc but some type of Mace Barb might be better.

I'd actually go with an elemental aura paladin - the weapon is going to be really quick, so that's a good thing for them. That set still leaves a lot of slots open too, so it wouldn't restrict you too much. And the weapon gives enough physical damage at high levels not to be too terrible vs your elemental immune monsters.
Only possible uses that i can think without really looking at the set it either and elemental aura paladin or maybe an fireclaws druid. iirc the weapon is reasonably fast.
but you'll lack the damage for a physical damage build.
Problem with the paly and druid will be your lack of +skills though (only +2 from the top of my head?)
And really none of the items have too usefull mods.
the shield: big boost to mana. why?? it is too heavy for a caster but others won't need the mana. and has no resists which is what you want for a caster
the armor: only a little bit of life and some defence which usually isn't too important to begin with... yay
the helm: don't really remember but only some stats iirc
the mace: nice speed but damage is too lacking for most builds
with the whole set you will get some skills and resist but still not enough to compensate for the 4 item slots you lost. And you won't have any leech from the set and you will seriously lacking damage reduction and resists while the items take up the most prominent slots for this.
Sorry to be so negative about the set but i've been thinking quite a while about a good use for it. Mainly because the pictures look good and i wanted to use them :lol: But i really could not think of a very viable build for it.
Sure you can make more then one char with it that can complete hell but there are so many ways to do it better i would get frustrated i think
Blizzard has upgraded some sets very nicely.. why didn't they also upgrade some other useless ones?
Offhand, I think it could work for a enchantress. You can prebuff your enchant on the switch (even if you lose +2 skills). The fire damage on the mace is enhanced by fire mastery. The mana on the shield helps energy shield. You should probably go for a "blockless" route instead since the str req is so high.
Sorcs normally don't cast any curses etc so the weaken wouldn't overwrite any curses unlike a necro/barb etc. Replenish life can help if you run around teleporting without getting hit.
You'll need good items on the other slots to make up for the lack of mods though. Probably resists/life/+skills on the rings+ammy, and mods like CB/OW/ias/FHR on the belt. Charms round up resists and +skills. It'll be a pretty slow road through hell though.
If my titan melee-sorc actually finishes NM, I might try the set on her and see how she fares. (obviously I need to find the set first, I've never seen a spired helm drop before)

On a side note. It might be usefull for your sorc indeed but a normal enchantress would not want the 180+ strength required for the shield, ef she has to combine that with max block which takes horrible amounts of stat points on a sorc she'll have really nothing left for life
Wasn't there a thread a while back with a break down on this set? Came down to it that an elemental druid (or a normal windy) would be quite good.. hm.. can't remember straight.
Hmm, maybe a shaman (ie. elemental summoner)
1) He has HoW, makes up for the low damage on maul
2) Mana on shield good for casters
3) Lower resists isn't as big an issue since you have minions.
4) Doesn't cast any curses (except blind which is limited)
