During the wee hours of the morning, when it got to be pretty slow at work, I decided to go trawling through the old pages of the SPF. Very entertaining, and I highly recommend it to any newcomers!Although for some reason no threads after page 140 are readable. The titles and everything are there, but nothing comes up when you click on them. Strange.
At any rate, I started skimming through pages of old threads, and I began to realize just how much knowledge and history is contained here. If newer forum members ever wonder why some of the senior members roll their eyes at certain topics, well, go scroll through a few older pages. You'll probably find your topic there discussed at length...more than once. Sometimes it ended in thread lockage. Other times it just died peacefully. I even saw some cool ideas like AE's From the Reaper's Chair thread, where he gave some answers to bubbling questions at that time. I dunno if he ever had the time to do one of those again, but I thought it was quite cool. (And great thread title, too! ) To make a long thread short (Too late! :teeth: ), check it out! After all, those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it, or however the phrase goes.

I actually had a look at some of the old threads a couple of weeks ago. There were a lot of interesting threads as well as some rather heated discussion about the map seed command.
Anyway there is some useful info there, but the main problem is finding it. The search option only allows words longer than 6 characters (It might be 5 I havent done some searching for a while). And with the amount of abbreviations used that means a lot of threads wont be found
If only there was a was of searching for shorter words without using all the forum bandwidth:scratch:
EDIT: Does anyone else remember the SP forum bashes? Unfortunately I didnt get the chance to go, mainly due to being 16, and my parents barely trusted me going out anywhere, let alone going to the other end of the country for a weekend, mainly because Id just been suspended from school...:(
Damn that evil squid! There were some threads at the far end of the forum that looked very interesting. Oh well.Originally Posted by Boddah_khan

I fnd myself going through these quite often, Silver. It's a habit I started back before I first joined (about 6 whole months ago!). After reading a lot of these 'back issues', I realized that asking questions here on the forums is almost pointless, since 98% of the time you can find your answer in another thread. Typically, you'll be linked to that thread anyway so you might as well hit that search button yourself. But the best part about reading the old threads is definitely the humor. There are some buried gems back there that will have you rolling if you just take the time to look.
well...i got nothing to do right now, so why not, i might revive a few threads

But without those questions asked over and over again I wouldn't have had such a huge postcount. It certainly shows how much people use the search function.
