I know these are basically the same thing. My question is this however:

Does it pay to stack deadly strike when critical strike is already around 70%? (give or take 70%)

Im asking this because im building an all melee zon and id like to know if i should stop at 100% chance of double damage or stack deadly strike.

Another question:

If I have 50% critical strike and 50% deadly strike, would this be the same as having 100% deadly strike? Or would they clash somehow, like 50% chance for each to hit meaning if critical strike didnt hit, then deadly strike had a 50% chance to hit however could also not hit therefore even though they add up to 100% its STILL only be 50% chance for double damage.

As you can see ive given this alot of thought....

You may have given it a lot of thought, but if u had searched you would have found the answer this gets asked once in a while

Critical Strike – Is your chance to get double damage. DS adds to CS but you can’t get quad damage. This is best illustrated by the following example:

You have 65% CS and 50% DS, your chance to do double damage is calculated as follows:

65 + (35% * 50) – with 35% being the times CS fails. Once CS fails you then get a DS roll which is the 50.
= 65 + (0.35 * 50)
= 65 + 17.5
= 82.5 % chance to do double damage.

So the amount of points you put into CS depends on what other source of DS you are getting.

"If I have 50% critical strike and 50% deadly strike, would this be the same as having 100% deadly strike?"

100% DS = 100% chance of double damage

50 DS + 50 CS = 75% chance to do double damage

Thats what i was thinking. Thanks for the actual numbers though.

Hmm....so is having both a good option to go with? From what it looks like, if one fails, the other has a chance to work.

It's actually better to get 100% from one, as opposed high levels of both, for example:

The "Shanksie Sword" has an 85% of CS, you then wear the "Shanksie Amulet" that has 90% DS, your actual chance to do double damage is 98.5%, so the amulet is only actually giving you an extra 13.5% chance of double damage. Whereas if you wore the "Daruis Axe" which has 95 CS and a random "Crappy amulet" you would have 95% chance of double damage.

But very few items grant high levels of one, the most popular on this forum would have to be the WWS bow for example, which provides DS*clvl, so if u do get to lvl 99, it will grant you 99% DS (and you would ofc leave CS at base of 1).

It's like every useful mod - life / res / mf / OW / CB etc etc, more is always better than less, but you have to balance your gear and be able to survive and kill.
