    Question about golems

My golem im using right now is fire golem, im a summoner with max raise skele, max skele ,mastery, 2 in skele mage, and 1 in revive (the plus's have it to like 7)
i have 1 in CE, 1 in amp, 1 in decrep,

would it be a waste to max fire golem? i've read in other post's to max CE, and i do use CE quite a bit as it really helps out with killing speed.

im level 75 ladder, and about 25 skill points still to use.

    Thanks!

i have a bone necro but with my spare skills i have invested in golems, i put 1 in each since my bonuses raise it to 11 and i use fire golem quite a bit, it helps take a lot of hits away especially in hell mode where mine has over 3k life.

since u are a summon it might be diff but the higher lvl ur CE is the smaller the beenfits of 1 more lvl become. for example from lvl 10 to lvl 11 i get an additional .3 yards and dmg stays 60-100. It is helpful when u have a bunch of little monsters on the field but its also a big mana drain, the fire golem will help you when it comes to bosses and things like trav runs where it can sit there and take pop shots from hydras.

a balance of both my not hurt a build like yours

Maxing FG is a waste IMO. He is very expensive to cast and doesn't have the nice slow that Clay has. The damage on FG is not that hot and barely scratches monsters in Hell. I would put a point in him for situational use, but overall I think Clay would be better.

Maxing CE makes sure that one CE can cover the entire screen. If you are worried about the diminishing returns, then level 10 is fine.

I'd have to agree with MM. Fire Golem gets really expensive as his skill level goes up, and he is not really Hell viable except that he absorbs fire. A lot of people go with CE to get huge explosions because you can use less bodies to kill more creatures, which can be very helpful when you have few corpses around. Overall, you have a lot of extra points leftover, and you can use them for whatever you think would be better for your style of play, but you don't really have enough to make any added attack. Perhaps you should invest in dim vision or bone prison; those can be helpful in different situations.

i appreciate your response's, the problem is i have used clay golem for the sole purpose of the slowing of enemies, i know not to use golems to kill as they are weak. my last ladder necro was a summoner and was a vey hell viable build, and loads of fun to play, and was thinking this time about using a fire golem instead, and to be honest, he just looks better, i mean cmon, i have a ball of fire with legs and 2 stumps he call's arms walking around...

but i think since i use CE quite a bit, i will invest a few more points into it since i do rely on it for area damage.

hrmm, i guess bone shield could use a point in it also...

    thanks for your help.

ok, just dropped more points into CE, so i have about 7-8 yards, forget, but omg what a HUGE difference from 3 yards radius i was using...
