    A painful decision to make...

My summoner does everything right, gear, stats, skills
EXCEPT one thing, I went all out to fire golem, and now I regreted
that decision and I should have gone for clay golem.

Although he still rules everything in the game, but just recently I just
felt that clay would be a lot more useful, and I don't have to cast
fire golem then heal mana using a NPC. Not a huge deal with fire golem
although he doesn't do much, and my skelies rules anyway.

The problem: my summoner is level 91 on his way to 92, my merc is
level 91. it would be real painful to remake him just to get another
golem, not sure if its worth all the effort? I just feel that he's not
"perfect" right now with the wrong golem, anyone have similar experience?

From what I've seen, clay golem is only good for bosses really anyways, because of the slow. Are you having trouble with act bosses (that would be solved by slowing him more than you already are with decrep and cold damage)? If not, then you can probably stick with what you have. I hear fire golem is good anyways because it takes the heat off your skellies with it's hf aura.

Thats great to hear! I don't have any trouble with my crew what so ever,
no problem with bosses or any other situations.
only feeling a bit ennoyed to cast fire golem from the start and then have to
go to a NPC to heal mana. My fire golem seldom dies anyway. the only thing
is may be he is helping but I just can't see it because of my big army....

So precisely how does fire golem takes skellies' heat off with holy fire?
I thought holy fire only does some area fire damage? and how does this
aspects compare when it comes to clay?

The holy fire atracts other monsters towards the fire golem , that would normally attack your skeletons. This means your skeletons take alot less beating. Which in turn means they'll survive alot longer.

Clay can do the same thing. But I wouldn't rebuild the level 91 character just for the sake of one supplementary skill.

If your FG works fine, there is no need to rebuild your nec. My first nec had a lvl 28 FG, but even a high lvl FG, cant kill anything in Hell. My new Boner has 5 point in GM and 6 in CG, and my CG is almost imortal, because he slows the monsters down with 64 %, and if I cast descrepify they will move and attack in super slow, which means that my slvl 91 Barb merc, can chop them down without being
    hit.

The great thing about CG's, is that you dont have to invest many points to get an effective CG, compared to FG, which demands many points to survive in Hell.
