Is a pure lightning trapsin viable?
Death Sentry
I mean : all lightning trap skills (4) + shadow master
Will the Corpse Explosion of Death Sentry be enough for LI ?
so would be Corpse Expl. enough for killing LI?
Imo, CE will not kill all li's. If u're playing a lot in 4 to 8 player games, it doesnt matter of course, but if you like to play alone or with a friend, you'll get frustrated with this build. It will kill most of the other monsters way too easy, so you're goin to spend all your time dealing with li's, leading them towards corpse piles or just avoiding them when they have too much hp. I'd suggest a hybrid kick/trap assa in that case, made one myself and it's one of the most entertaining buids I've ever played with.
If you have a decent mercenary i don't think immunes will be that much of a problem at all. You can mind blast them and run if they get annoying. Death sentry will take care of most situations though.
thx for replying!
for this particular build which doesnt need melee capacities, how much :
str, dex, vit and energy do you suggest?
I like to have enough stats to use all of the claws because you never know which claw type will have the magical +3 traps, +3 LS, +3 DSI get away with this by using base energy. I try to leech back mana with blade fury while my traps are firing.
My Lightning trapper is 3 synergies + Fire Blast since FB gets damage from all of them, AND makes Death Sentry fire more shots, but if you make sure you're good with Mind Blast and Cloak of Shadows, you can get the monsters to kill each other helping out your merc to get that first corpse for DS. FB just makes things go a bit quicker.
Well I suggest placing a few points in FB personally I use 18 for the 6 extra shots per DSentry. Pure lightning trappers work well as long as you use some FB with them. By pure I mean only using trap skill tree. I have a pure trapper that has a point in blade fury as well as points in LS, DS, and FB. If I had used a merc through out normal and nightmare. A act 2 merc would have been my choice for the cold aura yes it shatters some enemies but with no mindblast you can use the merc to slow enemies for your sentries. a HF merc at a rather decent level can handle your FI enemies so yes you can go all lightning traps.Originally Posted by Draksen
You only need +skills from your claws so put enough str and dex in your char for the claws they are using for +skills. With energy you can actually play using base points. Fire blast gets mana after kill and blade fury gets mana leech. use them to gain back mana or use blue pots you really shouldn't need too many red pots. I set 2 belt rows blue 1 red and 1 purple. put the rest into vitality. Fairly simple right?
What you will find is you don't need a merc in nightmare, at all. I suggest keeping one only so you have a leveled up merc when you enter Hell. I had this problem with my 2nd to last trapper she was in Hell with a level 10 act 1 normal merc. I didn't even think about trying to get a different merc leveled up an act 3 nightmare merc barely survived enough to gain levels in act 1 Hell.
Lesson learned even if you don't need a merc keep them alive so that they level.
A pure light trapper would be quite frustrating IMO. I understand the desire to be "pure" because I've tried on so many occasions to build a character that way. The problem with building a Light Trapper that way is that you negate the beautiful synergy bonus inherent in FB. By pure, I assume you mean no Master, no MB, no BF, and no BoS or Fade (shudder).
Doing hell pit runs or other LI areas without FB or MB would be impossible. With those, you glide through smoothly. Purity is great in theory but an assassin's Master, Mindblast and other one point wonders like BF are just too valuable to discard.
Enjoy this build. They do so many parts of this game well that you may never go back to the lesser characters... unless you really miss your blood golem.
Thank you very much, all for your replies and advices!![]()
Basicly, what are teh minimum STR and DEX I need in order to be able to use whatever claw-class weapon I want ?
I have read somewhere 79/79 ... but it seems that some claws req. 140/140 or something rather close  no?
Btw, isnt LS "better" (dmg and range) than DS ?
I don't plan on using anything over the reqs for greater talons, 79 str and 79 dex. If that miracle +3 traps +3 LS claw ever drops for me on a claw with higher reqs, i'll work it out then or just rebuild.
