I need a job, I hate looking for jobs and by that I mean I utterly loathe and despise job searching!!! This thread is devoted to your experiences in the world of work, or the world of looking for work. It is also devoted to one of you guys offering me a job if you are so inclined.
Tell the story of how you told off your boss or a rude customer or *cough*how you will give me a job*cough*. Tell the story about how you made 1700 cheeseburgers in an hour during a busy lunch. Tell us about that memo ("did you get that memo?"). I need a job.
FWB - what state are you in again?
Come to Washington and work for CPS... or for a plethora of social-service agencies.
Or... call up the Gallup organization and plug for youself. With Social Sciences under your belt, there is certainly some polling you can do - perhaps later leading to research related work.
It's either that, or I'm going to make fun of you the next time I come into McDonald's and ask you to "supersize me":teeth:
I got one job without an interview. I just keep showing up at 0800 ready to work. After a week they hired me. I ended up working for them for 4 years and became an expert in reprographics. A knowledge base that helps me in my current job![]()
Sounds kinda like Office Space. . ."he just kept showing up and no one bothered to tell him he was fired."Originally Posted by Freemason
kinda like that but in reverse
I need a new job too. At 1630 MST I have an interview with another architectural office. You don't need to wish me luck, I'm going on skill and talent alone![]()
I live in North Texas now, I just moved from the Stillwater, USA. Im doing some research for the university of north texas studying work teams in nursing homes, but that is only $10/hr for 10 hours a week, I need something part time.Originally Posted by LunarSolaris
I dont want to work in food service or the grocery store, I feel I have enough credentials and experience to get past that. Ive applied at a few social service places (especially those who service mentally/physically handicapped folks, I have experience with that, plus my degree) and Ive applied at the wal-mart and whatnot (bluh)...I only need something to tide me over until August (grad school! yippee!), I already have a job as a TA when I start (shameless plug).
Lunar, I would gladly supersize you, its all the other *******s out there who look at workers in the food service industry as mindless slugs whose sole objective is to give them a free frosty because their order took 4 minutes *gasp*
i've been without a job for close to a year... go me

I have one question. Would it be appropriate to wear a purple shirt to an interview? Thats the only type of dress shirt I have but I'm not sure if it would be the right type of shirt for an interview.
If it is a nice, dressy type shirt I would say yes if you were applying for jobs, but at a job interview I think It might be better with a shirt/tie. That looks far more professional. But when dressing semi-formally, I dont think purple would be inappropriate.Originally Posted by Canadia142
