Cell phone companies are some of the most complained to in the country. I know, from personal experience, cell phone companies are, at times, sneaky and underhanded and will try to stick you with charges and a poison dagger without telling you, basically setting a booby trap in your phone bill. Some lock your handset so, even if you change carriers and keep your number you can't use the handset.

Anyone else have a bone to pick with cell phone companies?

I think that they are some of the shadiest companies around. I dont even know the number of times I've been overcharged. They always try to charge me with roaming frees even though I live amost dead center in their coverage area and I haven't left the area in months!
I got a deal through the Navy for Verizon Wireless. 10 bucks off each line each month and a new phone every two years. So I've been paying $50.00 a month for two phones and more minutes than I could ever use. I don't even use a home phone anymore since I have so many minutes. And anytime I have ever had a problem I just call em up and I get it fixed.
Example: I got my new phone a month ago and it was supposed to be free. But they charged me $120.00. I call them up and they credit me back $130.00. Made $10.00 on that deal!
The biggest problem consumers have is they don't contact the right people if there is a problem.

Dunno R++, they can be pretty useless. Random hidden fees that aren't what they say they are, difficulties doing legally guaranteed stuff...not so above board.
i haven't had much problem with verizon wireless.. but then again i don't pay for it.. so i don't deal with the technical stuff, but along the service lines, it seems fine
I hate the whole concept of being locked into a 1 or 2 year contract. And, what pisses me off even more is that the reasons the phone companies give for having these contracts don't even hold water. Crooks....the whole lot of 'em.![]()
I finally switched to Liberty Wireless just so I don't have any contracts. I prepay for my minutes and can drop 'em anytime I want. I've read some horror stories about Liberty, but I've had no problems with them yet. They use the Sprint network so coverage is good, too. So while many people say they suck, they seem to suck less than the others do to me.
I've been pretty happy with Sprint. The signal isn't always top notch but I love nationwide long distance and unlimited starting at 8 pm.
My bill is about $45 a month if I don't go over, which I rarely do. I will probably try Verizon next, I hear they're pretty good and I don't want Sprint thinking I'm in the bag.
