Since a cleric is unable to hurt non-undead (unless using FoH), what would be the best merc for him.
i was thinking the merc needs to do some kickass dmg, so its between a act5 or act2.
What do you people think?? Also what act2??
Act 2 nightmare offensive (might). He should survive plenty fine with you holy-bolting him so go for the most damaging one.
anymore ideas? I was thinking an act5 bash barb would be better?
Truthfully the only thing that would be of good use as a merc on your cleric would be a Defiance Merc or a Might Merc equipped with either a DOOM great poleaxe (ethereal of course) or Reaper's Toll. This way you either have very high defense or damage on the merc and frozen or decrepified enemies.Originally Posted by Argive
Ok, I guess act2 frost really wouldn't be any better right? Do the act2 frost auras add damage like the paladin frost aura does?
Actually, I don't use a merc at all, since I am towards Party helping. This is because when I am holy boltting party members for healing, my merc tends to get in the way and suck my holy bolts.
If you want a merc that is out of the way, I would recommend an Act 1 merc. They keep clear pretty well by themselves.
My cleric has a prayer merc, that way I dont need to go around healing everyone, I can target the 'critical' ones and he can handle those with small dents in their life.
But like you say, he does suck up the bolts. Although I think, one people realise you are a cleric they tend to come to you in times of need. I have completely run out of mana with holy bolt in NM before ( Tal Rashas tomb I think it was ) and everyone needing healing... =)
