Need some help in choosing the helm of my strafe/FA zon. I use these 2 skills equally so they will have equal importance when choosing the equipment. Btw, this is not a mf zon, so my doesn't matter. Equipment that I don't think its necessary to change:
Highlords / Raven / 8/6 Dual ring with 2x/3x resists
Loh/Gore riders
Duress 19%EDamage
Razortail
Wf (Shael)
She has lres 35%, fres 60% and the rest around 0 or slightly negative The last anya quest is not done yet. The 2 IAS breakpoints I'm after are 90%ias and 120%ias, I have 80%ias right now.
I have the following choices for helm as far as I can tell:
- Gaze 8/7/19 (what she's wearing now):dual leech plus the cold duration for FA. Not too big fun of DR on amas, but it's nice sometimes. Plus that for me it's still the coolest looking helm on the realms Socketed with 15%ias gives me the 90%ias break point.
- Tal mask: quite nice, bigger dual leech, life and most importantly resists. But man, it's ugly like hell Socketed with 15%ias gives me the 90%ias break point.
- Nightwing: extra cold damage, skills, no leech, dexterity if I'm not wrong. Socketed with 15%ias gives me the 90%ias break point.
- Andy visage: 2 skills, 20%ias, poison resist. The fire res penalty doesnt worry me but the extra str it gives is not needed and sockeyting it with 15%ias jewel still doesnt allow me to reach 120%ias (unless I change belt).
- Mavs diadem: one big advantage: socketing it with 15%ias will bring me right to 125%ias.
- Shako: skills, life, dr, mf. No leech, 90%ias max...
To give some input... Personally I prefer Lionheart to Duress for a Bowazon, it might be worth it for you to switch to a Lionheart if you have the runes, or even better, Chains of Honor (although the runes for this one are hard to find).
But, back to the point. My husband uses Tal Rasha's mask on his Bowazon, and even if he's MF'ing just about the only thing he doesn't switch is the mask. I guess it's just that nice.
Vampire Gaze seems to me is one of the better options, especially if you're aiming for some extra cold length/damage. Dual leech is always nice, however if you're hurting a bit for resists, you may want to go with Tal Rasha's or one of the others. (Yes, even if it makes you look like a hyper rabid mini-Andariel.)
Nightwing's Veil looks like this for stats, just in case:

Not a bad helm, but it lacks resistances and leech so if those are mods you value on your gear, you may not want to go for this one.
Andariel's Visage isn't bad either, mainly if you need a whole lot of Poison Resist though. 20% IAS and 8-10% Life Leech makes it a useful helm if you can make up for the -30% Fire Resist. +2 Skills always helps too, of course.
M'avina's is great for the 30% IAS, but not too good besides that unless you're wearing (nearly) the whole set.
Harlequin's Crest is probably your best bet for MF, but since you said you're not too worried about that, I'd say that it's not the best headgear for you.
That's my view on it, what I would do (assuming that you have all or some of these items already) is try them out and see which you like the best.

On another note... I got the runes for lionheart but I think I prefer duress: got almost the same ED (19% compared with 20%), still good resists but it's got crusshing blow, open wounds and cold damage whcih I value pretty high. Plus more defense
I'm glad you like Duress, it's a decent rune word, however - Crushing Blow doesn't do very much damage with a ranged weapon, and even less in Hell (PI) if I remember correctly. Still, it's not bad to have.
If you do decide on the Vampire Gaze, I'd like to hear how it goes. I thought about using that myself, but I currently need the resists on mine (using a rare Circlet with resists, mana leech and IAS). Good luck!
Under normal circumstance I'd have said the Tals Mask myself. I actually use it on my Strafer with an IAS jewel, but mainly for the unbeatable 10/10 leech, plus it has res all and life.
Wwywern seemed to be okay on resists and leech (only dual leech ring I have is 6 / 2, so thats kinda low)..and if you are fine in that area...well,..the mask IS ugly :lol:
I used to try a Gaze on my old FA/MS zon, but the DR is just overkill and its is equally ugly, hehe..so in the end I wore a Harlequinscrown. It is a close third in the ugly department...which naturally leaves M'avinas.
@Yumi: well, I use the gaze right now (unsocketed) and as I said I have 80%ias which reaches the breakpoint for strafe but not for FA (thats why I would go for 90%, for the FA breakpoint). It's nice if you can deal with the lack of resists. I have 6xx life so the extra 60 from tal would be handy as well, no questions asked. In terms of speed: it is fast enough but I guess some more speed won't hurt. I read some post from some guys and they said the extra strafe damage is around 40% if you reach 120%%.
Concerning the duress: I like it too much to put it on the mule or on a merc
@det: indeed, you are right except that I kinda like how the gaze looks, hehe (dont wanna turn this into a fashion discussion though). Mavina is great for ias but has no leech or resists or life whatsoever. Plus, I dont have it so I cant test it
At the risk of starting that feared fashion discussion... :lady: I tend to much favor Circlets/Coronets/etc. for looks. Love that ponytail!
I actually think the Cap art looks even worse than a Mask... Like she woke up in the morning and had one of those "holy-cow-which-tornado-did-I-fall-asleep-in?" moments, then grabbed the closest thing she could find (her cap, of course) and stuffed it on her head real tight. Keeps the hair in, a real beauty if you want your Amazon to have that leather-head finish.
Then again, I already said my piece about what the Mask looks like, so...
Crushing blow is really only needed for boss's or monsters which will take more than like 50 arrows to kill (i use them for diablo clone only). For every monster killing power, you should try to get your hands on war travelers. the 15min & 25 max * all the dex, ED to demons & such will really increase your killing power.
