Paranormal - ie. ghosts, spirits, etc.

Well i know most people have em. Some experience that couldn't really be defined by common sense, or logic.

Personally, I'm terrified by the idea, I think a childhood of Unsolved Mysteries pretty much traumatized me for life. That, and an overactive imagination.

I've never really actually seen anything, but more or less felt something. I remember when I was a kid my grandparents sent me to their attic to get something (and this is an old victorian house, so the attic is one of those creepy ones to begin with). I was up there, and I was fine... then all the sudden the hairs on my neck kind of rose and I got an overwhelming sense of dread, and that I just had to get out of there. I ran down the stairs as fast as I could and got out of there asap.

Well... this is before hearing the stories of my grandparents being up there... and when they come down the stairs they get a whiff of some strong cherry pipe smoke. Turns out some dood who lived there awhile ago (who is currently deceased) used to smoke pipes up in the attic all the time.

That sufficiently freaked me out enough to never step foot in that attic ever again.

I have a few other minor stories that really aren't worthy enough of a mention.

But for the rest of you... any stories you care to share?

No, but I used to be really fascinated with this stuff. Seems like I'm outgrowing it though

We have this long hallway in our basement in our house.. and i have to leave all the doors open at night, otherwise it gets too humid in those rooms and starts to ruin stuff. My imagination goes overactive to the point where I half expect someone to be standing at the end of the hallway when i turn my head. The other day i just sat there and stared at the end of the hallway for a few minutes, was kinna freaked out.

That or I'll dream that im sleeping, and i start to hear like.. doors, or cupboard doors bang, it sounds so real in my dream that when I wake up I half expect it to be happening... freaky stuff.

Well, I just tend to see shadows the way my father used to tell me he did when he was young. After awhile you get used to it but I do tend to hear people constantly whispering in my ear. I was also pinned down to the bed once in my old apartment, though by that point I knew something was watching me for awhile so it was more of an aggravation than anything else.

    I'm used to being watched.

I once had someone I know call me one afternoon and say "You looked scared last night" so I asked what he was talking about, and he went on to explain the night before when I shot up in bed and started staring at the corner of my room where my 'puter desk was. Yes, I did just that and no he wasn't there physically but he was always doing things like that.

Hmm.. when I was younger I had 2 OOBs I recall clearly. One I was just laying in bed relaxing and it happened. The other time I fell into a pool and when I fell, I fell underneath someone and couldn't get up for air and watched everyone splashing around in the pool for a few minutes from a bird's-eye view before I bobbed up to the surface.

Another odd incident was the time I almost got hit by a car. When the guy stopped (the light had turned red immediately after the incident) he didn't take the time to curse me out or threaten me or anything. I stood on the curb staring at him in the car but he just kept staring straight ahead and took off when the light changed.

Split my skull open when I was 3; instead of taking me to the hospital my grandfather told me to take a nap. No one understood how I was still alive after that, since quite a few hours passed between the incident and when I was taken to the hospital.

That last one was probably just luck though.

There's more but.. eh.. that's what I remember at the moment.

So like.. you were pinned to the bed as in, no matter how much you struggled you couldn't move?

And the second one.. your last sentence you mean "he" as in the spirit?

I have kind of a morbid curiosity with these types of things.. they scare the hell outta me, but I still have to watch something or whatever if I think it's gonna happen.. I wont just bail outta there. Sorry.. I don't necessarily know how to describe it.

    I'm jealous beyond belief.

I have a few stories to share I guess. There was this time I was upstairs in my room writing an english paper and I was laying on my bed facing the direction of my door. I hear my dog trample up the stairs like she usually does and walks in the room. However, when she looked above me she flipped out and took off and ran, followed by me. She had gone to the bathroom on her way down as well. While I was running my back felt extremely tingly until I got downstairs where my parents were.

Another one is the day my neighbors knocked down their old garage because it was getting unsafe. It was also one of the days that we were putting in our inground pool, so there was quite a lot going on. Well, I went inside to get a drink and I heard a page book turn, so I was kind of curious as to who was in the house, since I thought everyone was outside. I left my kitchen and from my dining room I could see her sitting in the front room in our antique rocking chair. I'm suprised I remember so much about her, because I only saw her for a few seconds before I turn and ran out of the house. She had blonde hair and was wearing a blue and white flowered victorian style dress and was reading a bible. She never looked at me or anything, it was like I wasn't there. Thank [diety]. When we went camping later that year I had found out that my Aunt saw it too, but on a seperate occasion.

Another story is not about me, but about my dad and mom. When they were still about 19, before they had me, they lived in seperate houses and my dad would come over and visit. Well, one day he was sitting in my mom's kitchen getting a drink and the trash can lid just flew up and down, up and down, up and down, until he had left the room. They seem to follow us. I think it's our own fault for moving into a 120+ year old house.

Also, I see shadows above one window in our living room. I thought it was my imagination, because it almost always is, but when I told my mom and dad they admitted to seeing it too. Apparently they have been seeing things and hearing things since the first week we moved in 14 years ago. My sister hears people sprinting down our upstairs hallway, although it's so short that if you were to sprint down it you wouldn't be able to stop and it would most likely be followed by a crash.

That's not that uncommon, especially if you weren't actually hit. In fact something similar happened to me on my way from work yesterday. The light was green (i was on a bike) and this black truck was going to make a turn. It hadn't yet and i thought it saw me, so i went to cross the road, and the truck started moving (i was less than 30 CM away from the truck when it did that). i shouted in surprise but kept going, truck didn't even honk.

Hey Starseed, there may be a medical explanation for the time you were pinned down to the bed. There is a condition called sleep paralysis that occurs because the body excretes hormones that cause the body to become paralyzed. This is done so a sleeping person doesnt act out what they are doing in a dream. Occasionally, a person can wake up while the hormones are still in the body, causing the sleeper to have no control over their body.

I for fact know this happens cause this used to happen to me... still does sometimes. You dont even have to be asleep and wake up for this to happen. One time, I trying to sleep so I was laying down in my bed. I had the radio on cause I always listen to the radio when Im trying to sleep. So i guess i must have dozed off for a sec, cause all of a sudden i couldnt move. I was completely paralyzed... couldnt even move my lips or anything. Fortunately, this happened when i had already done research on it, so i just calmed myself down, and listened to the music and tried to fall to sleep. When i next opened my eyes, i could move again and the same song that was playing when i was paralyzed was still on, so this must have all happened within like 2-3 minutes.

But the first time it happened, i was scared out of my mind. The thing about it is, the more you struggle with it, the longer it goes on... from what ive experienced, its impossible to regain control of your body. the only thing that seems to work is calming down and fallling back to sleep, and the next time you wake up, you should be fine.

As for being watched... I had the same feeling when it first happened. It felt as if there was a presence there with me, but I couldnt see anything cause i couldnt get my eyelids to completely open. There are some superstitions stuff about it. Some say that the incubus comes to men at night and paralyzes their bodies to, ummm, have some fun. I dont really believe that stuff, but its an interesting read if your bored some time.
