Another Stupid Hypothetical Question/Situation Thread
Let's say that you and your love interest and/or soul mate and/or one person in the universe you can't live without are taken hostage by extremely honest terrorists (sorry to set up so many damn conditions, but if I don't someone will doubtlessly post stating why my situation is flawed and thus irrelevant, not realizing the whole thing is anyway, and that the situaiton is only set up to ascertain certain qualities about people). The two of you are separated, and the "lead terrorist" offers you a choice: either he shoots you right there and they let your significant other-type-person go, or they'll allow you to see the other person for five minutes, then kill him/her with you there, and subsequently let you go. Which do you choose (assuming that you are somehow assured of the word of the terrorists, that you are unarmed and have no hope of escaping, etc., etc., etc.).
Are you the same guy who started the mean genie thing?
well, i would still think that it would be the terrorist who is doing the killing and I wouldn't answer his question...I'd do anyhting i could to avoid it...you grant him power when you let them mess with you. but since I know you wouldn't like that answer I would have to say there are a few people i'd die for in this world. my brother and an old girlfriend who I still have very strong feelings for. my other friends i don't know. but i do know that her and my bro i'd die for.
you're going to have to work on the way you word these things. I still don't think i would be the one killing anyone, I the terrorist is the one to blame...i'd prolly end up charging him and getting shot or beat the crap out of myself...I'm not all that tough. but it would be an emotionally charged time i imagine. Although i would certainly feel remorse if I lived through and my soulmate did not, i would be more upset at the terrorists than blaming myself. Most likely if they killed her in front of me I would try to find a way to get even--I'm not sure...i'd be dramatically affected.
