Yes I agree with all the sentiments herein expressed;
-Solid guide, best I've seen in a while
-Battle cries 1.10 like curses, add strategy, good
-Makes me want to make one too mm hmm
Two knouts (or whatever..elite ball and chains) would be aesthetically nice :buddies:
Ash, that's a hell of a guide - thanks for your time!
I started a frenzy barb the other day, and while I'm familiar with WW barbs, frenzy is completely new to me. I'm just wondering - is frenzy the only attack that you would ever use in this build (provided you have the mana), because for some reason I've been really successful getting the first hit in with frenzy and then switching to double swing while the frenzy is still in effect (or maybe it's just because at my low level and mediocre equipment double swing is just more effective right now).
If someone has the time, what would the normal battle sequence be for a frenzy barb? Is there a lot of skill toggling going on, or is it really just a matter of using frenzy and constantly targeting and hitting correctly? Thanks much!
Jim
I don't toggle between frenzy and double swing anymore, but I did at lower levels before frenzy got built up
theres no point in my using DS as Frenzy hits the same speed with my current equip
basic skill sequence would be
taunt
war cry
frenzy
war cry
frenzy
war cry
keeping the enemies stunned, of course how often you war cry depends on your duration, and you can throw battle cry in there too, which I do against bosses to weaken them until Life Tap is cast
Thanks much for the answer - that helps me out a lot!
Hmm... for PIs I was thinking of using twin Glimmersheds instead. You'll get 1k elemental damage from each axe, which should be more than enough vs. most PIs.
Also, does axe mastery work when you start throwing the Glimmersheds? for IM considerations mostly...
Good guide.
I didn't know you knew how to type that much without hitting "reply" after every sentence or so.
Well Ash. After you sent me a copy of that the other day I decided to try it out. I Duel weild BOTD Zerk Axes and I have never seen a barb shed things so quick. Thankyou for introducing me to them.
Wow, this is going to be my first outside the OTF post in like a year. The only reason I even clicked the link in Ash's profile is because the first barb I ever made (and my favorite D2 character) was a frenzy barb. Keep in mind this was right when the game came out. I never put enough in vitality because I didn't know of all the +strength items, so he never had enough life to make it through hell very well.
I recall I had a pair of Aldur's Rhythms as my weapons and then a Moonfall/Barnar's Star on weapon switch or something like that for the elemental damage and the increased attack speed, if I recall. (Sorry, I haven't played D2 in like 2 years).
Anyhow, I was wondering about that runeword that gave +5 to frenzy, is it useful at all?
I was hoping to help everyone interested in frenzy, but wow, I didn't realize I would be creating interest, thanks everybody
as for Fury weapons, & +5frenzy, I didn't give them much consideration, although they have excellent mods, deadly strike, open wounds, ITD and +5frenzy of course
someone did have a rather interesting build that involved no points in frenzy and use of 2 Fury weaps while pumping synergies, it sounded interesting, don't know how plausible it would be, I didn't try it, I only play ladder now and to my knowledge nobody makes Fury anymore, all Jahs go into enigmas, so it isn't a popular weapon choice anymore
the only Fury use I've heard of is with WW Asns...you could get much better weapons for a Jah+Gul
