I have been doing mf runs most of the night with about the best thing to report was a gris armor :/ Then when I decided it was my last run a gold and or yellow ring and shako drop. On my computer its hard to tell the difference between rare and unique. Turns out hell andy deemed me a carrion wind ring and harley snarko all at the same time! Woot!

But the question I now face is, is it better than tals mask? I'm wearing tals mask, tals amy, tals belt, viper, frosties and rare boots. This sorc is suppose to be my mfer.

OK 3 parts of tals 65% mf + 15% belt ( max) = 80%
Shako with topaz gives you 74% and 2 skills and life and mana and damage reduce. Honestly id trade tals amulet for skulders and maybe war travs and try gambling a nice rare amulet or crafting one.

Plus carrion wing is a great ring if your poison res is hurting

Im seriously concidering building a new baba around my 2 shiny grandfathers char since the one i got now is a concentrate/zerker one.

I have had a similar dillemna in the past, although I got my gear in the opposite order of you. I have all the tal's gear except armor. I wrote down on paper several configurations, before I arrived at the following choice:

I use wizspike to teleport, and fight until boss is low, then switch to ali-baba (my resists are 30-ish with alibaba). I use shako, 4 -topaz armor (my friend has my skullders), and the unique resist ammy that casts iron maiden (I needed the resists).

Mainly tals was nice, but the dmg reduction of Shako simply can't be achieved with tals set, and the 65% breakpoint in fastcast can't be met as easily with tal's, so shako with other gear was better for me. I'm still waiting for tals armor though, to see if I can equip stuff differently and come out ahead for both safety, teleport speed, and MF.

I take little very little posted in other forums as a good way to go in hardcore.

Tals Set is very nice and very usable in HC, but 10% FCR and 10% PDR can make all the difference in the world.

Damage means nothing as with any sorc even built poorly willstill have the damage needed to kill.

Tals Mask without the full set is basically wortless on a sorc except if you can afford to wear it to get your MF bonuses with 3 pcs.

I will take living, damage reduction and fast cast any day of the weak over damage. If I find or snag a Tals I will simply stick with my build and swap my Viper for Tals and have Armor/belt/ammy and use my Wizzy and Whitstans and Shako.

You make your choices as it is your choice to make, but Nothing beats a Shako as a stand alone item, and most people hanging in the "sorc/barb/sin...etc" forums are SC people who can pick themsleves up off the ground after a mistake.........

Without full set almost anything beats Tals helm and Orb......many ammys can beat Tals, and many belts can be substituted for Tals. The full set is good, but outside that full set it is all replaceable.

my mfers dont actually go for mf anymore, they wear full safety gear. i think of mf as a luxury, not a necessity. i mean, if ur dead, what use is mf?

for example, my mf sorc (up to 1900 meff runs now) has the following:
shako, rare+2 ammy, arachnids, viper, wiz, ss, sandstorm, bahamuts ring, 30 nagel, frosties

i could just as easily do these switches: goldwrap, 30 nagel (i have a spare one), travs, topazed armor. but even with my current setup, i still dont have max res (well, except fire) and i occasionally have to tp to town for mana.

my java has these:
shako, tiamats (no ss yet, eh) titans, smoke, travs, tgods, cmoon ammy, 8ll 15 stat ring, 7%manald, loh

and my necro has these (boner):
shako, viper, homo, wiz, maras, marrows, glooms trap (not lvl 80 for arachnids), mana rings, frosties

and i use em all for mfing.

its not like [insert whoever you are mfing] is going to drop better with [insert number here] mf. and of course, you shouldnt be mfing bosses anyway, as random champs drop soooo much better.
