A few questions on paladin skills.

Hi all!
I'm thinking of a new pvp build and i have some questions i cant answer myself.

1) Does the defiance aura from exile add to the defence bonus from holy shield? I mean, is it additive?

2) With slvl 25 conviction is there a need for attack rating if i use it with charge?

3) Whats the best high defense armor on NL? I'm thinking an ethereal superior archon plate with stone roneword.

4) whats the fhr bp for pallys?

1) Don't really understand your question here, but if you're asking whether the defiance from exile acts as a synergy to holy shield, then the answer is no.

2) You will always have some base ar so it's not like you're totally without it. I would charge with fanaticism, instead of conviction, since it adds ar and damage. Other useful charging auras would be vigor, freeze, and conc (if you don't have fana).

3) Depends on your build I think, but yeah, an ethereal archon stone would be cool. Bad thing is that it breaks after a while =(

1) I mean if HS gives 750% def bonus and the defiance aura gives 270% does it mean that i get a total bonus of 1020% on my defence?

2) Ok, but will it work to charge with conviction or will i miss 99.99% of the times? does conviction lower the opponents def enough?

3) i figured if i can get one with high durability it will last awhile since i wont get hit much with 40k+ defence

1) Yes, it works like that, both bonuses add up

2) Conviction is useful if your opponent doesn't have any skill that enhances his/her defense, because it's calculated at the same time. For example, if your Conviction had -95% def, and you were dueling a paladin that got 750% enhanced def from his Holy Shield, he'd still have 655% enhanced def after Conviction. The same happens with defiance, Iron Skin, Shout, and the Sorceress cold armors if I'm not mistaken

ok, so relying on conviction and 1 base point in charge is a bad idea in pvp?

Depends on build I think. If you use a lot of elemental damage, conviction will certainly help you. Just slap on some ar gear as well. Charge at lvl 1 works as well.

yes, my idea is to have an elemental weapon. But i will still have to hit them, even if they have high defense. But i suppose i raven, dex for max block and either alma negra or hoz with the added attack rating is sufficient to almost reach 10k.

I tried using conviction to hit, but vs. 10k++ def opponents, it can only take off 2k-3k def at most. You will need a high lvl charge for these circumstances, unless they are running.

You might want to go with angelic ammy and rings instead. That way you will get a lot more than 10k ar.

btw your build is Elemental Zealot? with FOH?

Oh yah btw Eth runes and -% def does it work differently from Conviction? If it's another step, then some items might be worth a 2nd look.
