s/s= sword/shield! Argh! <bangs head>
Chalk one up to my nOObness. I blame Durf for forgetting.
My favorite part of playing nethack so far was getting blinded by a 'yellow light' and when something started hitting me I whacked away. Started taking serious damage so I used my scroll of teleport and let the blindness go away. Went back to the shop I was in when I got blinded and realized I'd been hacking at the shopkeeper. Oops.
Count me in with a Ranger - Dexazon![]()
Flamearrows, i dont remember where i found this but i know somewhere out there is a version of NetHack called Falcon's eye.
this is the same game just with an added graphic interface to bring it a bit more into the modern day.. i had a copy of it once but lost it when my hard drive crashed..
is using this acceptable?
*edit* Falcon's Eye can be downloaded here for those interested http://falconseye.sourceforge.net/index.html
I have one question for our "specialists" :
Few times i saw that my "chance to fail when casting" increased to 40%. When it does it increases for all spells , including easy ones. So when it happens i can't get it back. It just kills me, i can't progress any more. Can someone explain me how to get normal chances back?
P.s i did some testing and saw that it happens when mummie hits me (unconfirmed)
Metal armor hinders spellcasting. A metal helm will add a little fail rate; chainmail will add a lot. If you want to have a good success rate with spells, wear only armor made of leather, cloth, crystal, dragonhide, etc. A robe will actually improve your casting chances.Originally Posted by lemon
Falcon's Eye can be used, but I don't recommend it for the simple fact that it's harder to progress far into the game with it. But if you're determined to use it, then go aheadOriginally Posted by IceDragon79
I strongly recommend you search for spoilers on google - I'll post a few sites with the official tournament - and that you read the guidebook. It's huge, but you need to read it if you want to understand any of the advanced game concepts. It's also got a list of every command you might want to use.
No one wants to be one of the more restrictive classes? pity

I haven't really decided yet. I was leaning towards the classes I haven't ascended yet in Nethack. I could do Caveperson, perhaps... but what's an "arty Necro"?Originally Posted by Flamearrows
Cause I can't do HC yet, and anyway I'd get my *** handed to me on a shiny silver platter of horrid nasty painful death if I tried it. Considering I'm not all that good at D2 in the first place...
But this NetHack game looks rather intriguing...and I really should be working on an assignment I promised my school counseler I'd do.....but since when I have I ever done assignments when I was supposed to be doing them?
Anyway I think I'll give this Nethack thing a little go just for the heck of it.
I think that the barbarian - sword/shield barb should be nerfed. As i understand this tourney will go by this :
Hard class in Nethack - Easy class in diablo
or
Easy class in Nethack - Hard in diablo
But when i tried playing barb (nethack) i managed to get to Dlvl 10 by first attempt. When playing wizard i tried about 20 times and i managed to get to Dlvl 10 to. Yea i'm still lame. But nvm ,Wizard is much harder than barb. But i just can't say that playing barb in d2 is hard. Yea sorc is easy too, but nethack class is hard (wizard), while barbs in both games aren't difficult
Would a singer barb be harder?
