Had an interesting experience tday and was looking for some feedback.
Was starting a new wind druid (atebeanburrito) today. Was hunting Bloodraven with a sorc .. both of us lvl 5, when a higher lvl sorc enters game. I think she was 34 but I am not sure. There were 6 people in game by this point doing different things. Sorc calls out "anyone want enchant?".
A Barb says yes (he was in Marsh) and the sorc takes tp there enchant. I set tp to refill and repair before continuing with Blood Raven, and the sorc comes through .. enchants me and says "have fun" and leaves.
I do not think much of it. Go to see Blood Raven. Run up to her and one hit kill her. I am still using the club you start with. No charms, no jewerly at all.
Everything I hit just dies. I check my stats and I am doing 1050 to 1245 damage. How is this possible?
Damn shame there was no tp to Andy up. I would have loved to have one hit Andy with a lvl 5 Druid.
... uhm, try reading the skill description/stats for Enchant sometime?
Nice attitude.Originally Posted by PhatTrumpet

Ok so help me with the math.
lvl 20 Enchant is 74-97 fire damage
lvl 20 Fire Mastery boosts is by 163%
lvl 20 Warmth will boost another 180%
74 to 97 + (74(163%) to 97(163%)) + (74(180%) to 97(180%))
74 to 97 + (120.6 to 158.1) + (133.2 to 174.6)
(74 + 120.6 + 133.2) to (97 + 158.1 + 174.6)
327.8 to 430
This does not compute for me. What am I doing wrong?
Did the sorc have lvl 50 fire skills?
Remember, fire mastery modifies the synergy, too, giving a larger-than-listed bonus. I think a lvl 20/20 with full synergy Enchant gives a bonus of around 1K to a non-sorc, and over 3K to a sorc with fire mastery (fire mastery then increases fire damage again, hence the greater # for a fire mastery sorc)
The dmg number gets more impressive as you increase Enchant/Fire Mastery.
Fire Mastery modifies the synergy as well?
So the math is more like ..
Enchant + Firemastery + (Warmth * Firemastery)
74 to 97 + (74(163%)(180%) to 97(163%)(180%)) + (74(180%) to 97(180%))
74 to 97 + (217 to 284.6) + (133.2 to 174.6)
(74 + 217 + 133.2) to (97 + 284.6 + 174.6)
424 to 555
Still not enough. hmmmm.
Well, she must have been a little higher than 34, since at that level she could have only just barely maxed enchant (lvl18, assume some saved skill pts) and couldn't really have had much into FM.Originally Posted by 10thattempttoregister
At any rate, the way the Arreat Summit lists the damage is not correct (not sure if this info is from previous versions of .10 patch, or what), and as mentioned the synergy with warmth & FM addition also does not work as listed. Others (GrnEggs) could add more here, I've only just begun testing to see how this works.
Okay. This is bugging me. I think I will make a ghetto enchantress and try it out.
I got up to +20 Fire Skills with maxed Enchant/Fire Mastery/WarmthOriginally Posted by 10thattempttoregister
She adds 3.2k or something like that.
And it lasts for 25 minutes or something insane like that (I can use it to 1-hit kill almost anything up through Nightmare and I've had characters in Nightmare Baal runs before they were permed).
EDIT:
Forgot some math:
97*2.63=255
255*2.8=714
That's a little better (you forgot that +160% does not mean *1.6, it means *2.6).
And then Enchant (like almost all the skills) shift up at higher levels i.e. every 4 levels, they increase by an additional 2 per level (2 damage, then 4, then 6, then an upshift to 10, then 14, then 18, then 22, then another shift to 28, etc., so the higher levels actually do a lot of damage).
If you were mistaken and she was level 45, it'd be quite easy to get a really high level enchant going.
+1 skills armor
+3 skills helm
+3 skills amulet
+6 Enchant/+3 Fire Mastery staff (2 socketed with +3 enchant would get you there)
10x Fire Mastery Charms
+1 skills gloves (Magefists)
That's a level 20 Enchant, 18 Warmth, and 16 Fire Mastery.
That'll get bumped to:
40 Enchant
20 Warmth
37 Fire Mastery
And if she really was 34, you'd still get
+2 Helm
+2 Amulet
+1 Gloves
+6 Enchant/3 Fire Mastery staff
+1 Armor
That's a level 17 Enchant, level 20 Warmth, and level 5 Fire Mastery.
Which goes to:
29 Enchant
20 Warmth
14 Fire Mastery
... I think she was higher than 34, but you wouldn't have to be.
Well I see the problem here already, and somehow people think I am the enchant master lol. Anyways the equation you used for the damage is wrong. Well with everything lvl 20 that means enchant, warmth, fire mastery the damage of enchant added to other players is 504 - 659. For a sorc if she enchants herself this 504 - 659 is then enhanced by fire mastery again! Thus produceing lots of damage and makeing the enchantress possible(the fact that the damage increase after lvl 20 is tremendous does help aswell
). Well looks like the information from the Arreat Summit is wrong... Sigh here are the real numbers from the game code, lvl 20 enchant 68 - 89 damage. Here is the equation I have come up with just to make it simpler I will just do the max damage
. (89*180%) + 89 = 249.2 the game rounds up to 250, 250*1.63 = 407.5 game rounds to 408, 250 + 408 = 658 I am off by 1 damage but I still think that is the equation...
