I used to be part head of a clan in D1. I was clan leader of another one. Of course the internet connection was never stable because my dad kept deconnecting and reconnecting high speed.
Welcome back!

I didn't even have internet at my house when D1 was popular
I never played Diablo way back. I remember trying to play Starcraft on 56k through AOHell though. Every 4th game would have major lag caused by someone. And the drop screens that would not allow players to be dropped even after the timer hit 0.
One of my friends had Diablo and Starcraft way back. It was fun watching him rage at the people that had horrible lag. I picked up Diablo at version 1.09 and Starcraft at v 1.11 (I think).
I never played SC online at all, never MP'ed at all in it. I used to play WC2 on LAN a lot with my dad though.
I usually made jokes to people, at the time I was probably 13/14 didn't really ever "rage". My favorite was telling people they had a Fisher Price™ Modem. I have had Starcraft since within the first few months it came out. Where does the time go? Now I feel all old and stuff.
If warcraft II had the free for all option I'd probably still be playing. I feel old too because of the fact that we're on Diablo III and Starcraft II.
Back in my day warcraft was a RTS, and there were 9 planets!
Just found tal's amulet with my singer
I never ended up beating D1. I'm pretty sure I got down to level 10ish? (where the lava and stuff begins?) and somehow I just never got further. Never played MP, either. I could see that being fun, though.
You missed some of the best parts of D1 then. The dark atmosphere and being hopelessly underpowered when entering the lvl where Diablo was, was absolutely great. It's the only thing i miss in D2:LoD. I still remember going forward step by step, trying to lure out one enemy at a time and being so into things that you almost hit the roof when hearing any sudden noises. Even though nowadays i don't remember that much of it anymore, that has stuck with me. Awesome stuff.
