Quick update (from my place--came back to pick up a couple of things):

Cleaned out Act IV. Killed Diablo (only took twenty minutes--I thought it was going to at least take me a half-hour) with only Thunderstorm and Chain Lightning (would've just used Lightning, but my CL's a higher level, and does more dmg). In Harrogath, took out Shenk. Haven't done much else, due to switching mercs for the CS (and now quite thoroughly regretting it)...will level my replacement Act II dude and then continue onwards in Act V. Diablo dropped crap, but I removed a bunch of my big-time MF so that I'd stand a chance against Baal. Took him down at 29.

Well, gotta run.

Yes, you have been around a while. I remember you. And I think you would recognise my old handle (but maybe that is just me being egoistic), but since I am in a bit of a fey mood I don't think I'll give it out quite yet (well, no more than I already have ... Vireyar is my old name, merely translated (and probably poorly, at that)).

Mage11: It's good to see some old names returning. As you can see, the people here have changed quite a bit from then (even some of the lurkers, such as myself, have come out of hiding to participate).

Returning? No, no, just stopping by to see how the old haunt was holding up, and maybe chat a bit.

You may want to do a (re-)introduction post/thread for all of us who have not been around long enough to remember you.

Well, to show my age, I was here before introduction threads were thought to be a good idea. To further show my age, I remember when Erzulie was still around and when Spearthrower first posted his Throwing Barbarian guide. I also remember when the Giant Squid first reared its ugly head, seeking its toast.

I'm keen for a Guinness to start the week after a fun and relaxing weekend (which even had a good amount of D2 in it).

As am I. Bartender (who is the bartender these days?), a Guiness for me. Though I was playing Morrowind, not D2.

Eurgh...I never thought a place like this would be so mind-numbingly BORING! Oh, well...the dog's taking a nap, so I decided to play some D2C (turns out my cousin already had it, installed and all. Quite interesting...) Having far more luck with my Paladin than with my Sorc, but I AM noticing something quite disturbing:

1.) I CANNOT interact with my merc. And I do mean *at all*. Also, it appears she was given to me with a skull cap and bow.

2.) Holy Fire aura seems to only be doing damage every so often, even if enemies are standing there for more than ten seconds (really tough boss). Is it always this weak at low levels? Come to think of it, Might wasn't doing anything, either...

I suppose it would help to state the version, wouldn't it? This was v1.00...any ideas on bugs/things to look out for? Is this normal for 1.00?

Anybody? Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?

v1.00, or 'Ye Olde Original Version' as it is sometimes known, had a few interesting features.

Merc inventories, controls and whatnot weren't added until the Expansion (and are still disabled in Classic, even post-1.07). So you're stuck with her as she is (and mercs won't follow you between Acts either!).

And Holy Fire... no idea.

Shaks, I know the feeling. Put classic on my laptop when I went on a seminar two/three weeks ago. The difference is quite, hmmm... Stunning.

Lone_Wolf: Tell me about it. Here, I thought a Sorc might have some hope...the original release must've been Paladin-biased...none of the other classes looked like they'd stand a chance, which is why I didn't use an Amazon to start with.

LowLander: Oi...I'm thankful that I'm done house- and dog-sitting at the end of the week. I'm also incredibly thankful that I was able to create characters I am by no means attached to. (I.E., if George dies to Andy, I *REALLY* couldn't care less.)

That said, I'm going to order a nice, simple strawberry daiquiri, and relax before diving into another session. For the record, I *HATE* v1.00, and I don't know how anyone can/could stand playing it!

Is it still alive? Can't stay on long, had to check mail and whatnot at our place, since sig. other forgot to do it before he went to class this morning. Managed to sneak in some levelling time (managed to keep my lvl11 [yeah, I'm REALLY starting over with this guy--talk about purgatory!] merc alive through Andi) while sig. other was doing homework he needed to use the home connection for.

In any event, I'm wiped. Here's to the health of the company, and a good bump for the bar!
