View Full Version : Question about Elective Mode

I took this for granted but as I was playing around with the Skill Calculators a question arose.
Surely I will be able to pick for example 3 Might skills and 3 Defensive Barb skills for my build and put on my action bars? (yes it's probably not the BEST setup or 6 primary skills or whatever, but you get the question)
Or Am I forced to pick 1 skill from each category???

I will be really upset, the possible builds are like nothing in comparison if that's the case.
Please let me know.
Thanks
Elective Mode removes the restriction of "1 skill from each category." You can pick any skill and have it go in any slot with it enabled. The only exception is that some skills cannot be mapped to the "primary"/left mouse button slot, probably because it would make using that button to navigate the world difficult. (For example, a self-buff would not make sense to map to that button because then you could not move to get in range of attacking, since it's not an attack.)

As far as I know, you can put any skill you want on any button you want.

Aaalmost, some skills can't be placed on the LMB.

Yeah, had the thread open for a bit while I was doing other stuff, didn't see the previous reply...
Another exception would be that you cannot two of the same skill with just a different rune attached. For instance, you cannot have both Clobber and Onslaught.
With the talent calc, just use the arrows at the top to switch skills. Like others have said, nearly any skill can be mapped. So you could have all 10 characters with 3 last tier skills :D.
Is elective mode triggered in the options menu or something? I was only able to play for about 2 hours and I wanted to focus on playing rather than fooling around with menus.

Yeah in the options under Gameplay.

Yes, it's in the gameplay options.
One additional bit of information: if I'm not mistaken, you need to have unlocked a certain skill button to be able to map a skill to it. For instance, button "3" unlocks at level 14, so that button is disabled until you actually reach level 14 and you can't map any skills to it before unlocking it.

So the answer is:
Yes, you can have multiple skills form the same "category". In the Barbs case, "might", "defensive" "Rage" and so on?
:)
