hatred increased to 40. WTF@!!!!!
All I want to do is be able to spam multishot. But no, they even take that away from me.
The skill does significantly more damage per shot now, but I would much rather have lower damage and less hatred cost.
honestly, what the hell is blizzard's problem... it's like they're out on a mission to make it impossible to spam any skills. I loved spamming multishot in d2 and i was really looking forward to using this skill in d3.

Multishot – Fire at Will (http://diablonut.incgamers.com/skill/demonhunter/multishot) Cost reduced to 20 Hatred. Deals 165% weapon damage as Lightning.

This had to be done, if they wanted to keep Suppression Fire even remotely reliable. There were most likely other considerations as well. We barely know anything about the later parts of the game, so we can't really say whether these changes are justified.

Pretty much. And as it should be.
Did they change preparation punish rune effect or suppression fire rune effect from multishot? In my mind endless shadow power with gloom rune and multishot spam serving as a endless discipline generator with nightstalker seemed kinda lame combination.
Edit: Would still seem like viable option, actually even better in multitarget situations, but less efficient when there are less targets hanging around.
Edit2: well actually worse all around. Multishot costs too much for that now.

Suppression Fire remains unchanged. Base Multishot however increased in damage to 165% from 115% and its cost was increased to 40 Hatred, up from 15. This does limit Suppression Fire's Discipline generation ability. If you ask me, this change is completely understandable. Another option would have been to make SF chance based, but I much prefer the current implementation.
Punishment's cost was increased to 25 Discipline, up from 20.

Using Multishot as a primary AoE attack is still very much possible, but it will require better positioning and build planning. Since Multishot now costs 40 Hatred and Punishment 25 Discipline you'll have to hit at least 9 enemies per Multishot to regain enough Discipline for the next use of Punishment, assuming that your max Hatred is 125, which is the base. Before patch 16, hitting 3 enemies would have been enough, which was absolutely ridiculous.
Resource increasing items and skills (like Vengeance (http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/class/demon-hunter/passive/vengeance)) will be really useful now if we want to do this, since they will give us a certain leeway in Discipline generation.

Hey, I played D2 solid for years, didn't sleep, missed school, and I would be first to admit that the combat could be improved greatly.
Take off the rose tinted glasses for a sec, and come back to reality..... ;)

I live in reality. Multishot was my favorite skill in D2. I loved to flood the screen with arrows and see that last monster die right before it approaches me. Now I will only be able to shoot it two or three times max before having to switch to another skill. To you this might equate to "depth" but to me it's just a fun killer.
Different strokes for different folks.
I applaud this change, since the DH is already meant to be the 'tactical' ranged class anyway. I find switching between skills for maximum effectiveness a lot more fun than just holding down a button and spraying the screen!

Do you seriously think this is how combat should be done in any game?

I think what people are saying here is that sitting there spamming the same skill infinitely is a bit repetitious and boring. Having to use different skills to generate points to use the bigger skills that take points changes the dynamic of how the fight progresses.
I see your point in being able to rain arrows on mobs, and that can be pretty fun for a while, but thinking back to DII (which I do love, BTW), it really was a spam attack game. Every once in a while you had to swap out your right-click to handle an immune mob or some such, but overall it was just hold down your primary attack button and spam Pots when you ran low on life/mana.
This system "fixes" that.
I'm unhappy about this change as it did kill my build. was it op ? possibly , but dont we all want to find the build that beat all others?
I greatly disagree that "infinite multishot" was a problem - you needed to dedicate extra slot to support the skill and discipline in most cases.
And all that for lousy 114% wpn damage nothing really exciting comparing to cleave or mighty weapon rage gen ... will spare you comparing to wizzard.
If you want to spam you can spam there are planty of abilities that are spamable - efficiency is another thing however.
I would rather talk about damage to hatered ratio - it droped from 7.6 to 4.1 ... thats the ratio that wizzard got on his aoe ... you know the one with 10 resource reg per second rather then 4 - but i was supposed not to mention wizzard sorry.

and why should it be like so?
Because most humans find doing 1-2 things a billion times repetitious and dull. Mixing it up is way more fun for most people.
dont laugh but im actually more concerned on the change on Graphics on this skill. this black aftershot-ugly-thing just sucks and it seems like even the arrows look much worse to me than older versions (more like splinters and not powerful arrows)

I'm sure with the right gear, multishot will be extremely viable and devastating.
A fully geared level 60 DH is gonna have a lot of hatred and hatred regeneration.
