Just looking for some input on what cards make the most sense considering my budget and needs.

Needs:
Primarily will be playing D3, but would prefer a fair bit of longevity as to not have to replace the card within a few years. (got 4 years out of this one)
I am looking to spend around $150. I have looked at a few cards on newegg, but pretty inexperienced when it comes to video cards.
I am assuming I will have to get a new power supply as well which is fine.

So I currently run a:
9800GT 512MB
1920 x1080 Res
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 @2.5G
6G ram DDR2
400-watt ATX power supply
16.34 x 7.09 x 17.32-inches Case

So any suggestions/input would be much appreciated. If anymore info is needed please let me know.

Thanks,

Oak

Best one being at the top :
Radeon HD 6850 (500 Watts PSU required)
Geforce GTX 460 (450 Watts PSU required)
Radeon HD 6770 (450 Watts PSU required)

I'd also say Radeon HD 6850: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908

6850 & 6870 offer best value for money at the moment.

Which brand is your power supply? If it's a good PSU like Enermax or Seasonic, 400W will be enough for the 6850. If it's a cheap noname PSU, you will likely have to get a bigger one. Realistically your system won't draw more than 250-300W* with a 6850, but cheap PSUs are often less powerful than advertised and tend to go up in smoke when you draw too much power, especially on the 12V rail which graphics cards use.

You can easily get away with 300W unit, but a quality one (not random brand sold with a case). PSU like seasonic, can easily handle your cpu and even a powerful modern graphic card. 6850 does not require 500w. Quality of power supply is in that case more important than wattage.
6850 is good choice these days, one of the best performance/power ratio, also relatively cool card.

Awesome suggestions! I am going to get a 650 antech psu the green one. (currently it is a delta 400w stock) Still deciding on whether to get a 6850 or 6870 for an extra $10. Seems logical to just get the latter. I appreciate the help and support.

Seems like you have to increase your budget a little, cause your power supply is too low for a change.

I guess your 9800 would do fine for D3.

My budget was set to limit my expense on a video card because I knew I was going to have to get a new PSU. I decided on getting this combo, being shipped atm.

From the research I did and suggestions given it seemed like the most logical and cost effective combination to go with. The 9800 runs the beta fine but it is aging and I had one break about 2 years ago(luckily under warranty), so I feel like it was time to upgrade a little.

Good choice.

That is a good combo for the price.
Make sure to double check your video card warranty. I know XFX used to have a double lifetime warranty (the best on the market) but they changed a few things recently. From what I remember, most Radeons get a 2 year warranty, and yours (the 6xxx series) gets a lifetime warranty if you register it within 30 days of purchase. It's worth it imo...
