I haven't gotten a definative answer as to whether my comp will be ok for D3, although I assume it will be fine. Some tekky's out there give me your thoughts please:

Asus P8P67 deluxe motherboard
Intel Core i3-2100
GeForce GTX460
8 gigs of corsair ram

Your config is more than capable of running D3 at max settings.

I assumed it would be. Thank you very much for the response!

I confirm (if you ever need another approval).
Very good bang for bucks components for D3.

The sad thing is a lot of people would take you seriously and go straight to PC WORLD to buy more.

Probably around 50 FPS.

I have a Phenom II x4 955 3.2ghz, 8gb 1333mhz RAM and a GTX 550. In 1920x1080 max detail with AA enabled I get 50-55 FPS and that's with the emulator, which has serious performance issues. His CPU is only dual-core, but I'm not sure if D3 uses more than 2 cores anyway. Also, clock for clock, an i3 should be faster than my CPU.

you need more ram

Not sure if serious.

I did the test last week by setting the CPU affinity to only 2 cores instead of 4 and I didn't even get 1fps difference so I would assume it does not benefit from having more than 2 cores (The drop was quite noticeable with only 1 core though).

Thank you very much for the responses. Also, I picked up 8 more gigs of ram just to be safe...lol jk. I built my comp back in October and I didn't exactly get the top of the line components. It only cost me about $850 on new egg and that was for everything....case, power supply, etc.

Well, RAM is cheap and depending on how heavily you multitask could have quite an impact on your system's performance. For D3 however, 16gb RAM is overkill.

8GB RAM is overkill for any game.

Unless you play and encode vids at the same time.

With 16GB and up I would probably use some as RAM cache, could be useful if you don't have an SSD.

you do not need 16 GB RAM for gaming

not if you're playing D3 solo, but once you start multiplayer, 4 GB per person in the game sounds about right just to be safe, and since D3 can have 4 people in a game 4x4 = 16,
and more importantly, did you not see where he typed "lol jk" ?, so yeah, lol jk :)

Not ever, trust me. I'd be very surprised, if D3 would use more than 2gb RAM at any given time, tops.

Your way of thinking doesn't make sense anyway. Memory usage don't increase linearly with the number of players in the game. It does increase somewhat, but not by much.

I hope you are mistaken cuz I bought 800GB of memory to be able to have 200 units in Starcraft II. I also bought a 3 cores processor, 1 core per race.

I attached Xbox to my rig with a duck tape. It went from 11.21kg to 14.726kg.

This is with Firefox open as well (forgot to close it):

So yeah, you might use 2GB total while playing 4 player.
