View Full Version : Which Race For The Expansion Classes?
which races will there be with the expansion?
These are the classes/races we have so far:
Barbarian: Northern Europe/ Scandinavia
Demon hunter: Western European/Celtic origin?
Monk: Eastern European
Witchdoctor: African
Wizard: not sure..they donīt look chinese, because they have more almond shaped eyes, but they may have influence from there.
My guess for the next class race will be a south east asian(indian/pakistani) like Ormus and Alkor the alchemist or/and maybe a middleeastern/arabian.
Thereīs after all so much influence in the diablo universe from these parts, so i was a bit mystified by the fact, that there wasnīt any races included from these parts.

Always liked the idea of a demon hybrid. Half human, half demon. Always struggling to suppress the vile beast within, but its human half guarantees a soul. Happens to be a nice enough guy/girl who hates what his half-brethren have done with themselves and decides to rise against them. Using their own demonic abilities against them and some human ones too......bound to be an extremely popular class.

I always expected the D2 Druid to be Native American and not Celtic. I think inspiration from a Native race (South or North American) would be interesting and some sort of shape shifter is pretty widely agreed to be a missing build. But with dark haired characters being rather prevalent, I don't see them very likely.
With a lot of the Arabic themes in Act II, I would expect an Arab inspired character as well. Yeah I know more black hair.

Paladin was black, so, who knows. Could be anything.

Lumberjack - Middle aged overweight American who goes around with a giant axe plowing himself into monsters. That's what I want to see.

Doubtful. If you go back and watch some the class panel from last year's Blizzcon, you'll see that the Demon Hunter was actually part demon at one point; they explain how/why this didn't work.

Thematically, I could see a South American (Incan/Mayan inspired I'm assuming) stepping on the Witch Doctor's toes. Jungle-vibe and colorful body paint and what-not.
Arab is an interesting guess.

You do know the 'human' in the Diablo universe is the offspring of demons and angels, right?
Being half demon already, that would be hella redundant and make no sense :whistling:
Could you see the druid and assassin coming in D2?
The expansions (there's going to be more than one) will give the team making it a lot more flexibility. They no longer have to try and cover the classic character classes. They can go crazy now:scratchchin:

At one stage the Demon Hunter was going to be something like this if I can remember correctly. But they scrapped the idea after realizing it might cause complications with NPC's and what-not.
BUT I wonder if the real reason for scrapping the idea came from the fact that ALL humans in Sanctuary are half-demons now. Well... their half-angels too but still. I really don't know if I'm a big fan of this new piece of lore, it kind-of diminishes the threat the demons posed and the divinity of the angels a bit.
I've always been a fan of transforming classes, so I'm all for something like a Half-Demon or a returning Druid.
I reckon we will see the Necro return, there are the story elements there with Trang-Oul and the way to lore is going.
2nd new class is anyones guess

Actually that's a really interesting concept. A character tuned to their demonic ancestry who uses dark magic to shapeshift to various demonic forms. Will probably share design similarities with the D2 Druid, but with a special form for offensive spells. Probably without pet skills. Cool idea!

perhaps thereīs a secret panda level, where we get to kill them hehe.

I think the humans are the product of angels and demons, but I like the concept of it. A class struggling to suppress the beast within. A class so determined to destroy the demons, who are almost succeeding in destroying the human race, that he is willing to go to the extreme and become a monster/werewolf? to some degree to get their powers.
Friedrich Nietzsche: "He who fights with monsters should look to it, that he himself does not become a monster."
They took that quite literally with the D1 hero turned Dark Wanderer turned Diablo.
I think it would be to cliche to do it with a class.
Well...
We have an African, Caucasian, and Asian.
So... we're now waiting on Mexican, Native American, Middle Eastern, and Eskimo (lol?) representation?
I want Pandaren!
I lol'd
I feel like another melee or close combat would be a good bet, just counting the current classes.
