Watching the beta videos I noticed that part where the player enters the Skeleton King's room there is a small cinematic where the Skeleton King breaks a bridge down as if it is going to slow the players down.

The first time I saw this, I thought that the players might actually have to do some back tracking or us the physics system in a clever way to find their way across. Instead they simple took the path directly to the right (not more than 20yds away) and took an alternate route across. This makes the who cinematic where he destroys the bridge dumb, since the Skeleton King look like an idiot for not destroying the second bridge that is so close.

Do you think Blizzard will expand on ideas like this, but instead actually have players use the physics system to find there way out of areas, or in this case across gaps where a bridge was destroyed?

Honestly, physics puzzles got old as soon as Half-Life 2 was done introducing them.

Diablo is too fast paced a game to introduce a mechanic that would force the player to start moving objects around, unless it was something extremely simple, such as destroying a wall section.

Puzzle elements can be quite fun in certain games. An ARPG like Diablo, this is rarely the case, these games are meant for constant fast-paced action and having puzzles would severely hamper this experience. You must also consider the target market for this game, most of them would simply not enjoy a puzzle and it might make them quit the game early on. I don't think there will be any puzzles in the game other than the basic pull X lever to open X door.
