View Full Version : Crafting for a Paladin (Need advice)

I have been crafting lately and really enjoy it. I havent made anything really good yet but have been able to pawn off some Sin and Ama Safety Gloves for pgems =P. I am currently crafting Caster Ammy, Safety Gloves, and Caster Weapon for my Hammerdin at level 88. I also would like to cast either caster ring or safety ring, but havent started that.
At the moment I am using a 40 HOTO, 24 or 26 Mara, BK Wedding Band, 23 Nagel and 40 chance gloves so really the only things that need changing are my gloves and one ring but Id like to see if I can come up with something that beats/matches the others.
The main problem is, like I said, I keep getting Sin and Ama skill mods on the gloves, mostly with useless other mods. I have a short list of some of the affixes I would like on the items but dont know what method to go about getting them.
The Affixes are:
Replenish Life 11-15
10-15 Dex
16-20 Nrg
61-80 life
10-15 Str/16-20 Str
12-15 res all/16-20 res all
+2 pal skills
+Staffmods if scepter
+10% FCR/20% if scepter
DR 4-7/DR10-25
MDR 4-6
26-35% MF
Any help on what iLvl I should be hunting/gambling/shopping or even if I should drop my craft a couple levels would be good. thx
93+ is the ideal level to gamble caster amulets, that's all i really know on the subject though
u need to be lvl 93 if u want to craft and gamble with the same char and want to have the chance of getting the +2 skill for a class on ur amulet. u canīt get skills for any other class than amazon and assassin on gloves, and for those also only for a skill tree.
it will be hard to beat a mara and hoto. if it is purely about dmg, u could look for a 2 pala 3 bh 3 conc scepter with 10 fcr, but uīll loose 40@ and 30 fcr, and that is not worth it imo. those scepter can be shopped in hell difficulty, best place is drognan in act 2, cuz he is the scepter vendor that can be refreshed the quickest. aside from that, with ur lvl 88, i think u can get all affixes on rings and i am pretty sure u can get all desirable affixes on gloves, if u decide to craft them. iirc mid end 50s is the best lvl to craft gloves.
2/20 amulets can easily beat out maras depending on rest of ur gear.
like krupa said, if u are going pure damage, best weapon would be that 2pal/3bh/3conc with fcr. otherwise hoto or even a wizzy will be ur best weapons.
Gloves can only get ama and assa skill mods.

iirc mid end 50s is the best lvl to craft gloves.
i cannot remember exactly, but i believe the best level is 72, 73, or 74. best meaning most possible affixes while missing the crappy charges affixes that make them really high rlvl.
ps. shop gloves, dont gamble them if you're crafting at those levels.

You can also open a red cow portal next to Akara for shopping convenience. And don't forget to do Vigor-ous shopping.
That aside, finding a +3 conc +3 BH +2 all scepter is quite a remote possibility. It may be shoppable in theory, but shopping is pretty mind-numbing and the chance of such a scepter is small. And this is coming from someone who really likes staffmod items (http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=740340)... For shopped items, the chance of a +3/+3 anything is less than 1%, and the chance that that they are skills you want is even smaller, and the chance that it is also +2 all pally is even smaller. If you want 10%FCR to boot, well, then you are really talking about a long time shopping...
There is no way to beat magefists for hammerdins, IMHO. Only if not going for 125% FCR breakpoint, then maybe bloodfists would be better. I guess you *could* craft a scepter for a hammerdin, but the 3/40 from hoto is really tough to beat since you need fcr from other sources like 20 from an amulet. Also, for pvm, there's the CtA side of things, which means you'll value +all over +pala skills since they help BO, so Mara's has an advantage there.

Thanks for the input guys. Alot of the mods that I want will increase my survivability, which is already pretty high. I dont need any more damage 9-10k hammers do the trick even when running around with ali baba and 2 MF rings and chance guards. I do have a CTA so the +all skills is a good point.
