Looking to start a 1.13 HC/RWM group

Have a 1.13c Hardcore FAM group. I host and with 5 people plus a large number of mercs and summons, we've had no lag issues. My connection is stable and steady. I run runeword mod as my only mod, so if you play with this group, you are FAM on the character. We allow twinking and the group has helped each other out filling some gear holes already.

We meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6-9 PM central time (7-10 Eastern). If you show up late, I'm usually willing to help you catch up on missed quests or exp afterward. If you would like to join, finish reading the thread and then leave us a note and leave me a PM for the ip info.

Right now I can't get a sub 1.12 install as my copy is tied to my b.net account. I've been trying to find a copy for my wife of the original battle chest, so 1.13c is it.

My intention was to do this untwinked, but if the rest of the group prefers twinked, I don't mind. Just realize that my stashes are really lightweight right now, I've not even cleared up to hell meph yet with my restart. I can put a sigon's set on myself and some mid-level stuff, and that's about it.

I'm thinking of going with a fishymancer or if nobody rolls a sorc I can put one up to handle enchant duty ... probably would go with either blizzbal or a pure lightsorc if we've got a pally to run conviction.

Sounds like a plan. I vote pure light sorc, although, pure LF zons with the, Charged Strike? Are deadly boss killers; again, although, we will already have Combo and I for tanks, OMG, guessing playing like a caster? Summon druid, correct? With CE? Shoot fire, run with the LF zon! Great area killer with LF even in SP, throw up a valk, and we'd have at least 6 tanks including the mercs!

I'm really excited.

Okay then, it's settled. Monday at 6-9 central. I'll PM everyone my ip to connect about an hour ahead of time and have the game set up a few minutes early. We'll be going through normal and nm on /players 8 of course.

Just a reminder, this is 1.13 Hardcore with RWM enabled. If you are not normally RWM, make sure to make a new gomule project and isolate our finds and this character from your usual stashes. Anything that comes into this game or touches any of the toons will be 1.13 HC RWM.

any spots still open? i was reluctant to post when it was going to be 2 days a week for 3 hours, but i can do mondays 6-9 most of the time. i'm all in 1.13c HC so i would prefer twinked if that's still up for debate, but if not, not. i have a couple builds i'd try out.

Well, the plan is still 2 days a week, but one of the players is going to miss one of the days already, so if you don't mind doing a little catch up on the in between, you're more than welcome.

I will have the game up in about 1 hour and 50 minutes. I will PM the IP to folks, and I guess we can use this thread to update our progress. As a reminder, this is 1.13c Hardcore with Runeword Mod, and twinking is allowed.

I've decided to go with a LF zon instead of light sorc and will be twinking with a sigon's set and some other low level goodies I've found by running NM Andariel this week (17 rings so far, no SOJ yet tho). We will be playing on /players 8 and I prefer to be thorough in clearing early on (but will acquiesce if the rest of the group prefers to skip some stuff).

Thought I lost my stashes, but I had made a new GoMule folder as not to ever confuse 1.13c and 1.09b. Was using the 1.09b shortcut and didn't even check the path lol. /fail

Anyways, my 75 hc assassin died, but I had a stash + a 53 tesladin. The only items I even have are angelics/some sigon/cleg's/twitch. That's all I got!

If I wait too long to eat, I end up having to lay down after eating. I've been tested for diabetes and they say no, so it's hypoglycemia I guess. I just waited too long tonight. For example, if the order was Drixx, OMG, CDM, Coju, then each person would select the item of their choice in order and each time we went through the order, we would then go through it backwards. So:

i like your method for questing, but i'd like to suggest a different method for baal runs that worked well in the group from the east trade forum when we all baaled together. the way it worked allowed many people to come and go without having to change the rules constantly or drop orders.

1) everything killed on the way to the throne and to clear the throne room was up for grabs. if there was a dispute, the person who made final killing blow on the monster for the drop got precedence.
2) everything dropped by baal's waves and baal himself except potions and scrolls was to go to the person whose turn it was. it was also considered helpful if everyone could pick up and use potions so that they werent cluttering up the screen.
3) if you didnt want drops, just XP, clearly state it and the next person in line would get drops. at the beginning of the run one person would announce whose turn it was so that everyone was clear. usually someone other than the teleporter (if there is one) would take this task on so no one would get left out.
4) no one IDs stuff that isnt theirs without permission and they really shouldnt pick it up in the first place w/o the same.
5) if you get something in your drops that you dont want, clearly state it and leave it to whomever gets to it first or keep it in your inventory until next game and leave it in town.
6) order is determined by alphabetical order based on how it appears in the player party screen and along the top of the screen of who's in your party. this is alphabetical through capital letters (ABCD) then alpha by lowercase (abcd).
7) if you have multiple characters in game to get xp, designate one to be the one you get drops for. you dont get extra drops by leeching with 3 other characters :grin:
8) the person with the most MF gets final hit on baal to ensure the best possible drops unless the person with the most MF is a tosser that'll take too long to kill him. everyone helps out until the last sliver so it shouldnt matter to much.

as i said these rules were designed to allow anyone who joins to get in on the drops without having to wait a full round. this did allow people to join get drops and then leave the runs, but rarely would anyone do this. we refined our rules over innumerable runs over the course of several ladder seasons and only once or twice did anyone take someone else's drop. frequently, if the person was too full up, we'd all grab the drops to carry them to the next game where they would all be dropped back down for the perusal of the person whose turn it was. i know that with this group there wouldnt even be a slight chance of disrepute. the rules seem strict, but they were just in place so everyone was on the same page. there were no real disagreements between anyone from the "regular" group and rarely between the newbies either.

this way may be too stringent for us now since i'm sure many of us either dont need drops or dont care enough to make a big scene out of it.

We've got a pretty stable group, so I figured it would be easier/more efficient just to do it the way I outlined. With the added benefit that folks can choose what is most helpful to their own collection/needs from the drops over a fairly large amount of runs. If we figure 10 minute runs (and I think we'll go faster, but still, 10 minute runs), we'll do 36 runs a week ... if we do 5 minute runs, that's 72 runs a week ... that will be a lot of stuff to choose from.

I personally am not really bothered by loot that much. I just like to see what drops more than anything. There are, of course, a few things I'd love to get my hands on. A Windforce, for example... but for the most part I just throw stuff into stashes working towards a grail and most of it will never actually get used.

Oh, and my method eliminates the "Holy ****, XXX just got a Jah rune plus a tyreal's in the same drop!" scenario. Of course, I'm big of fair :)

i'm not sold on the way you're proposing. i dont want to sound contentious or that drops are that important to me, so please dont take it that way. i have everything i could possibly want on bnet for over powered stuff and i'm not that bad off on SP anymore to make it a big deal.

i dont like baaling endlessly. i've done it and i'll do it more, but it's more of a chore than other things i like to do. as such i tend to do a few runs then go do something else, most times it'll be something away from the computer. i know that i'm not the only one in this group that'll be doing so. heh, how much AFK time has what's-his-name had? (cant even remember who it is, lol) in the sake of fairness, how will you distribute drops as you plan to the people that baal 50 times in one sitting vs the ones that're there for 25 or even 10 runs? with my plan i can come and go as i please without having anyone feel i'm not pulling my weight. i can also stop after 10 and not have to have anyone wondering how we'll distribute to someone who's not even there.

the "Holy ****" circumstance comes up frequently, but in all my runs with EaTF people it's more of a "you lucky dog" kinda statement instead of a "you son of a *****!" statement. when this game randomly decides to drop such, i have no problem with it, but if i'm cut out of an item i want and need by the fact that it's not my turn to pick, i'm not going to be as happy go lucky. i'll be more inclined to think that if i were alone, it'd all be mine! ALL MINE! MWAHAHAHA! which is not the point in multi play. it's the difference between "ah well, thems the breaks" and "dammit, i should have had that"

if through randomness one person who doesnt need say a Jalal for example gets one, there's always the possibility of trading an unneeded item for a needed one. i for one would rather the HC SP people trade more than just give away. giving is great for the people that would take handouts, but trading gets the business people a shot too.

i see advantages to your proposal, but i do not believe it to be the best way. i dont believe mine is necessarily the best for our group either, just that i dont want it to be tossed aside without consideration.

We've got time yet. Baal is simply the only true way to progress towards 99 unfortunately. As far as drops go, I just didn't want it to be an issue, and tried to think of a way to ensure everyone both got drops and had some amount of choice of what they got. By all means not a perfect solution. Not sure that such a thing exists :)

ps. once we get to hell baaling, i'm sure i wont just be playing my wolf. variety is the spice and all that nonsense.

i am ready! i got the gear for the first 20 or so levels ready and it mostly consists of putting on a raven claw and never looking back. i was thinking of putting a ton into static to start with since enchant is one of the crappiest builds until you get enchant(what would i do, max warmth?). i'll respec early with this build in any case, so i may start out with something else. once i hit that all important lvl 18 though, it's on!
