Usefulness of Ancient Spear?

The whole thing is simple, pull in 8 guys with ancient spear, stomp, whirlwind, cleave as needed, and so on.

This guy would have brawler, so it would be good against groups. I would use a mighty weapon to help ww last longer. I would also have life leech and warcry for survival.

The only real use I can think about for PvE is when you have that big nasty monster (say, one that resurrects others) and want to kill it first, but don't want to run/leap in because it's too dangerous, then you toss your ancient spear with crimson rune so it penetrates and reaches that monster and pulls it in for a quick kill.

Don't know if that would be worth it, though, considering the tradeoff (barb has many skills that seem both useful and non-redundant).

Or maybe with golden as a fury bonus. But there it's even harder to see it being worth the tradeoff.

If you want to pull monsters over, there are probably better skills to do that (though would have to try them in the game to really tell), and again not sure they would be worth the tradeoff.

You could also use it with Alabaster rune (making it push targets, increase damage) and spec as a throw barb.
