View Full Version : Getting Closer...
FYI, we’re getting very close to starting the closed public beta test for Diablo III. You might start seeing some new reports about the beta client as we’ve begun limited external testing with employees and their families, and there is no non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for that. We look forward to sharing more info about the beta test in the near future. Stay tuned.
From Bash yest morning...Maybe Fri?
Getting closer to having the final nail in the coffin as to the hopes of getting inside the beta. You are probably more likely to find an SoJ in 10 Andariel runs than scoring this one.

True that. Still, more people playing means that we get more info. For example, I've yet to see someone looking at how much the different attributes change your stats for a given level.

It depends on your class. It's between 1-3 points per attribute from what I've seen. Ot I know, but still.
I'll even check for sure when I play later. Maybe even start a general q/a thread where people can ask questions that aren't answered in streams and vids.

that would be good if you do that :D

Not earth shattering, but I guess they emailed the press sites that they gave the keys too that it is starting "very soon" sounds like same quote bash made in the forums, but emailing sites is another positive step in the right direction IMO

I've offered 100 000 WoW gold to the first of my guildmates bringing me a key/account to play on. Should bear some results soon, however i'm in Europe so we're a bit late it seems :/

If you check on Day9's latest tweets, he was going to stream the beta "100%" on Monday but then later stated he was in a different beta for the press that had an NDA in place. He also said there were multiple betas.
My guess is some people got advanced press beta passes but Blizz put an NDA on them until the rest of the press betas are activated so these special press people can't report on them before the others.
My question is: Are they going to activate the press passes at the same time they start the closed public beta or is this yet another step in the process?
Id have to say same time as bash said the same thing in the forums as well as in the email to the press
Every move is a step in the right direction for getting that open beta rocking.
It seems if they don't start at or before the 23rd we can pretty much forget about a 2011 release for this thing.

What about the 29th @ 11:59pm would that be ok?:evil2::fire:

i don't know... this beta is so small i don't think they can run it for more than 2-2,5 months. there is nothing to test except battle.net stuff and HW compatibility
it's a demo
Hey Kastigar can you tell us about the drop rate in the beta?
It seems to be a little right for me...But maybe they will ajust in the final version.

If the public Beta strech for more than a month, i will be surprised.
Well, we don't know what they are testing by themselves. If they screw up something we have no access in beta, then it still might be delayed.

Aslong as the beta lasts untill a week before the release, im happy. But once you get into D3 and then suddenly closed off for a long time. I might go insane..
It would surprise me to not* have the game go gold before beta is done.
The game is certainly finished - and tweaking is the order of the day. Everything can be altered and through patching, so once the initial release tweaks that are suitable for shipping are complete, we'll see it go gold.
As for the beta... according to my family friend that works at Blizzard, it's full steam ahead.
EDIT: I realized I didn't put "not" in that first sentence. I certainly think it will go gold before beta is done.

the wait between end of the beta end release was less than 2 weeks for both SC2 and Cataclysm

Ive had pretty decent drops it seems. Lots of blue/standard magic item drops. The Skeleton King dropped 2 golds for my initial kill of him (and some regular blues). I've also had a legendary (orange text) item drop.
Ive seen this legendary a few times, it always comes from an anvil near the weapon rack at the end of the first quest that takes you out of town. So it seems like if you get the anvil on your map, you get something spiffy, but it isn't always there.
