Heya,

First post here :) I have been lurking around the forum for a while but never posted. The beta leakage is just pure awesomeness and I can't wait untill I get home and watch some more! Currently I'm at my internship lol.

The reason I posted this is because Diablo 2 kinda felt like a grind after a while. At first it was totally awesome but later on you knew all acts, all monsters, all environments. Yeah all of those things are random (which is awesome btw) but maybe it starts to become more of the same killing over time. Personally I dont think it's gonna feel like a grind, and more like a craving addiction ;)

But maybe I'm wrong, what do you think?

Cheers

Everything turns into a grind after some time, I just hope it'll take a lot longer before that happens with D3 :)

Pretty much what dahmer said. It all turns into a grind sooner or later, but the main thing is that you have fun while you're at it. Even grinding is a lot of fun if you like it :)

I like to grind on pretty things.

Think they're trying to eliminate that feeling. Inferno difficulty is a step in that direction.

Usually when I get that grindy feel I just take a break and come back later.

Personally I think all RPG's turn in to a grind fest at some point. Inferno difficulty however, if done correctly, will make that grind feel worth while. They can NOT cater to casuals, and they can NOT cater to people who wish to see if nerfed.

If they do Inferno Difficultly correctly, it will buy them enough time to release updates and games with new content, allowing users to continue playing enjoyably.

Yes, loot based games ARE grinds. Nothin' wrong with that!

Yap sure it's going to feel like a grind! This game is all about grinding awesome epic items.

There is plenty of grinding to do even in the beta, just wait few days and you will see people doing King leoric runs till their eyes bleed!

As everyone, I guess it will be a grind after a while. The achievements, the inferno mode, are there to give you incentives to practice different kinds of grind (not the simple and eternal boss runs we had in D2).

But as everyone said, games that you play for several years often end up a bit like that. Keeping some guys that can play several hours a day occupied for monthes/years, you need to put some grind aspect in the game. Anyway, if you do not like it, you stop when have done the part that is fun to you. Still a few good monthes of gameplay, especially if you are a casual player.

Yeah it wil feel like a grind after a while, but who says it's a bad thing? Grinding is actually fun if it stays fresh and challening (and that will be the cause because of inferno)

Diablo 2 could have lasted much longer for me if it weren't for the hacks and dupes.

I played Ragnarok Online for like 4 years. Compared to that. Nothing Diablo 3 will throw at me will be remotely grind.

Yes, it's Diablo, it's a grind, but it's a really fun grind!

I think one element of Diablo that you can't really remove is the grind. I mean, it has three difficulties that you repeat just so you can "grind" up better loot, however, I think most people have always enjoyed doing that because the loot game is so compelling. There are bad grinds out there, but Diablo is one of the better ones because they always make sure killing monsters is very satisfying.

grind is fun if you aren't forced to do it

Using WoW as a comparison, please don't get me wrong .. I played WoW from vanilla but took an extended leave of absence from the end of last year .. once you hit max level (pretty quickly) and finish the quests .. you grind the same daily's with the same mobs in the same areas .. or the same mobs for the same material drops .. or you grind the same instances with the same encounters using the same tactics for the same loot as everyone else .. progression raiding, for all it's satisfaction pretty much consists of pre-raid preparation/farming followed by waiting for everyone to get organised, followed by running in and killing the same bosses until you get to the one boss you haven't got on farm status yet and spend the rest of the night wiping and running from the graveyard to the same fight.

In diablo there appears to be:
A) far more loot variety
B) more skill/build variety
C) randomized dungeons, even grinding the same area/quest is different in not only layout but also monsters
D) different difficulties (as you gear and level up you do the next difficulty)

That's just one comparison to illustrate that I don't think Diablo3 will seem as much of a grind.

Comparing to Diablo 2 they are doing alot of work to prevent dupe's, thus preventing the builds and runs that rely on specific gear that in reality everyone shouldn't have .. so everyone will probably have different strengths and do different things .. Also with inferno they seem to be trying to address repeated farming.

I Hope so! I need some mind numbing monster killing in my life

but seriously ... most likely it will be since that is what d3 is based on; grinding for loot and killing monsters.

If we wanted to sit around in orgrimmar and stand there in our awesome gear then I guess we'd be playing a different game ;)

Two words: REAL MONEY.

Do you really think we won't see a grind festival? :scratchchin:
