If there are some pre-order keys or giveaways shouldnt they be actual keys?

If they run the D3 beta as they did SC2 (v likely) then the first few waves won't involve keys at all as has been mentioned - they just activate it on your battle.net account.

Key *might* be given out if they run an 'Invite a friend' system as they did for SC2. Then, existing testers are mailed a key to forward on to a friend. I've started a thread about this - it'd be a good way to spread keys around the community here if/when they start the invite phase so go register interest there! :)

I guess some competitions etc will also feature keys, but they will probably be rare..
