Found it around database:

DotA with one's own premade DIII toons would be amazing.
That seems extremely unlikely for the initial release. Jay pretty much said PvP is second to PvE, and additional game modes for PvP (especially something as complex as a DotA mode!) doesn't sound like something they'll invest time in when they're working hard for a 2011 release.

Yeah I made an account just now because I am interested to see if this is true. But before I believe what he has posted I need to see a link or some evidence besides his word.

I'm interested in seeing how they would pull off Dota in DIII. I'm really happy they are considering different types of pvp gameplay.

I'm thinking teams race across a map killing demons, and whoever gets to the end first wins. They might even meet in the middle and have some PvP.
It looks like they have at least thought of these things.

Could be some integration regarding the release of BlizzardDota with Heart of the Swarm. As in chatlike functions.
not sure how this would work.. if a DotA game mode comes out it would become 2 games instead of just D3

Now, the pressure for D3 to turn into a e-sport will be HUGE. Its nice i admit, playing a Defence of the Ancient with 6 different skills, runes, and equips, but the the benefits doesn't overcome the negative points.
And, D3 will amass the two wrost community (my bad but, seriously, im not lying here.) into one game: The WoW and Dota community.

Or maybe dota people will be playing actual Dota 2, and WoW players will be playing Mists of Pandaria.

I think we're all wrong here. DOTA in this context stands for "Diablo Owns The Asphalt". It's a 3v3 PVP basketball game using D3 characters. I can't wait!!

I'll put your fears to rest. Much of the stuff in the list has been dummied out or used for testing only. They may have tried DotA at one point (I mean, why wouldn't they?) but since we haven't heard about it they're either not using it or waiting to implement later.

Sounds very possible... Jay did say they like the idea of PvP with monsters in it...
I am still holding out for a Last Stand type scenario like is in the Dawn of War games. Where you take on wave after wave of progressively harder mobs and have to work together to beat all the waves.
Bear in mind that the raw game data files are basically never pruned or cleaned up over time. So every idea and potential feature that was ever tried out tends to remain in them indefinitely, activated or not. There was a ton of stuff in the D2 beta and game files that was never playable after release, including things like guild halls.
So just b/c there are game names for this stuff in PvP, doesn't mean it'll ever be in the final game.
As a specific example, the skills files contain what looks like every passive skill or trait that was ever in a BlizzCon demo build.

They did this in SCII, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is in DIII too.

I think the potential for a Dota style PvP gamemode is definately there.
Being a PvE game in its heart, Blizz probably wanted to focus on making the main game, and just adding one PvP mode for now.
I'm quite positive with the first expansion they'll throw something else than just an act and a character class, and a PvP game mode would be ideal then, with much more feedback on how players play the game and so on. So they might start trying to cook something like that after release.
And when i think of a rather small and nice dungeon or cemetery with shrines to destroy and hordes of fallen pushing the battle lines while 8 characters go around kicking each other bums... DO WANT.
And for the record my only contact with dota games are two tutorial games of league of legends, i'm not much into the genre when there is a store behind it, but if blizzard made it around diablo (as a game mode and not a separate game) and not in a greedy store manner, i would definitely be interested.

All the PVP varities they could do - duel, smash bros, dota flavors - are all more interesting than the SP mode in terms of possibilities, IMO.
They aren't going to get atmosphere right, and we know their writing, while better than most games, is still pretty cliche heavy (and worse than ever going by SC2 in terms of that). I'd rather see a concentration of different pvp games, TBH, than a 3d take on D2 with weak atmosphere and predictability in every aspect.

I find that a lot of the people on this site are Diablo elitists. If you dont like those communities play with your fvcking friends, simple as that. And if you really hate people who play DOTA that much, stay out of that game more.
Look at that, problem solved. Now you can stay away from the obviously vastly inferior people who played those two games.

LOL on some board I said that DotA would be a nice game mode for D3 and people totally flamed me for that idea. HA, I told you so !!!
