View Full Version : Mod enforcement on spoilers during beta?

As much as I'd like to come here during the beta, I'm really worried about bumping into some thread riddled with spoilers.

Is it at all possible to get some heavy enforcement of spoilers put in place when beta hits? I dont know, mods going over threads and ensuring any storyline giveaways have 'spoiler' in the thread title somewhere or something like that would be nice.

The main content will probably be only in Act2 onwards, so no worries.

I personally don't think that there is going to be a huge amount of spoilers in the beta. Some people on here have already played through it.

There is no Act 2 or onwards in the beta as far as we know. If you read the thread I posted in my previous post, the person who played through the beta said that King Leoric was more of a Blood Raven than a final Act Boss. The beta is going to be extremely short and only meant to stress test the servers.

I know that.

I would like to add on, the main purpose of the beta is for BNET 2.0 and realm/network stability.

Spoilers?

A - There are none left - the leaks weren't 100% BS
B - The beta is like 10% of the game in terms of SP content, tops

I really hope that no one that plays the semi-public beta thinks they're playing the game.

They aren't. They're just pinging battle.net.

There's not much that isn't known about what's in the beta now but what titbits there are left will be in this forum. When I set this forum up I added *spoiler* in the description to warn people.

It's probably a good idea that if you want any surprises left for the first wee bit of the game you give this forum a wide berth.

I tend to agree. We know that Leah is Adria's daughter (but who is the father??? dun dun dun!) We save the blacksmith from his zombie wife, and we ice leoric again + misc. stuff I prob forgot.

As other have said, we already know all the plot stuff in the beta, and aside from the bit about Leah's parentage (not mentioning the specific here) there was nothing new. It's in tristram, zombies are attacking, you have to go into the cathedral to seek the source of the evil, etc. We knew all of that in 2008!

This, and they've also said that there are some big story things in act one right after the king leoric encounter. (Which is part of the reason the beta ends there.) Probably you find out more about the meteor, and maybe hints about the act one end boss, etc.

lol... quite a few things stated in this thread about the story line "that we all know", I didn't know....

I guess in the long run it wont matter anyway.

Kind of connected to what this thread is about.

What you note in your comment is easy to forget sometimes. Because a lot of people have been following the game for a long time they've digested lots more info, filed it away and moved on from it. Sometimes it'll get thrown into conversation and someone new round here will read it .... "hang on! You say what?!"

This is most evident in news that gets mailed in. New screenshots (that are old), the beta announcement page on the official site to name the two most common at the moment. This is partly why flux is doing the series of screenshot close ups for each of the chars - hopefully bringing old info that all the 'old boys' have moved on from to the attention of our new visitors.

So what some may consider new and spoilery the rest are thinking "That? Why, that's well old dude, where have you been?." (do we still say dude)

Hard to find a balance but if you're someone who doesn't like spoilers it's a bit like making your way through a minefield right now. :scratchhead: I completely appreciate that.
