hey i had a idea basically because i want to play diablo 3, even if its only to leoric and i like many of you have been waiting for 3 years now.
so i got a idea lets say "bob" gets a beta invite and "john" is a active member like me who just wants to try the game out. would you, if you were "bob" be willing to meet at a public place and let "john" play your beta for a hour? :scratchchin:
Account sharing is a bannable offense.

You would have to share your entire battle.net account. This would be highly unadvisable. Although the thought is generous, I would not suggest this to anyone under any circumstance whatsoever.
In any event, even if I did share my info, I have an authenticator so that would be kind of funny. Not that I'm going to get in or anything.
As a wiki contributor, I fully expect Elly to just hand you a key.

I haven't earned any special treatment.
MrFrye, if anyone. The insane amount of work he does on the skill/passive sections puts me to shame by magnitudes. I also have a crappy connection and wouldn't be able to keep up with media uploading like the other wiki folks.
I like creating fresh pages, like the Auction House page, or Bastion's Keep. Those, those I dig. ;)
But due to Blizzard's ball-dropping, I wouldn't count on this site getting keys. I have zero info to share on that, I know nothing about how that works. I haven't even worked in the fansite program since WC3.

That would be...interesting.
I'm super paranoid, though, and I live in the middle of nowhere (although probably pretty close to Xanth). That probably wouldn't work out well.
Logging on your b.net account in internet cafe ? If you don't have authenticator and do that I would call you an idiot who want to loose account.

yeah i understand the whole loosing your account factor. witch would not be very cool.
i guess i just really want to play the game, as i have not been to blizzcon or any other events. and i dont think ill get a beta key.
Make lots of friends near your house and hope one of you gets it. :)
If a friend came over and wanted to play the D3 beta of course I would let them play it. Otherwise if some random at some cafe or coffee shop saw me playing on my laptop and wanted a go I am pretty sure I would say no.
Yeah, since it's the whole battle net account, I would probably only share it with my close friends who come over. More likely though, it will only be my wife I wind up sharing it with. She's not as interested in it as I am, but she opted in, with the idea that I would play her copy if she got chosen and I didn't.
Was the system set up differently for SC2, in terms of requiring access to a whole B.net account?
I ask cause I know lots of people who shared access to the SC2 beta in the early days (eventually pretty much everyone had their own key), and I know people who are planning to share D3 beta access amongst multiple people. To the point of like, making up timetables about who can play when.
That seems imminently-practical; even if you're a madman for replaying the beta content, there have to be at least 12 or 14 hours a day when you're sleeping, at work, at school, or otherwise unavailable. Seems like any 2 or 3 friends could/should be able to timeshare without too much conflict.
I'd been tentatively planning to share my D3 beta access with some people I know via this site, since I won't have that much time to play anyway. Shame to just have the access sitting there unused 23 hours a day while I'm doing site updates, or sleeping, or at the gym, etc. But I guess that'll depend on the technical issues.

It is the same as it is for playing SC2 or WoW: you log in with your battle.net account, not an individual account.
If you choose to do sharing, I would very highly advise you set up a dummy account with a fresh email/fake contact information. This would require a cdkey for a blizzard game but I could gather one up. It's better safe than sorry.
With the RMAH and everything around the corner, you never really know what could happen with an account with a d3 key on it.
That's not just for Flux but for anyone reading this who may get into the beta and want to share it with your friends: get a new account, and put fake info in it. Make a password for it you've never used before. Be safe!

My only b.net account is a d2 one with info on it, that I set up just for D3 beta potential access. So that's not really an issue for me, I guess.
I'm sure someone will throw out tinfoil hat accusations, but I would not consider making a b.net account with my own name and email on it (for D3 Beta or full game), knowing how unprofessional and vindictive some of the people in Bliz Irvine PR can be.

You think they would be stupid enough to strong arm someone in the company to get you banned without proof?

I think he was referring to the beta.
I have a friend of mine (WoW guild mate, long-time gamer dude since UO days) who used to be on the F&F list and was taken off for some reason or another. He hasn't been able to get into a single beta on his account. He bought a blizzcon key for the SC2 beta but it wouldn't take. He had to make a new account with a different name. I firmly believe that they not only are able but actually do blacklist people's accounts and have the ability to flag them.
I have no proof of this other than his word, but I tend to find him honest. Yet, I would take it with a grain of salt.
