Just wondering what people on here will make as their first character, whether it be during the beta or when the game is finally released.

I think im going to make a Templar first. I like the idea of the Glacial Hammer spell that smashes enemies into pieces on hit when they are frozen and under a third hp :D

This tied in with a freezing spell like Freezing Pulse or Ice Nova would make a pretty cool character in my opinion :D

Has anyone else thought about what they might make, or what they are already playing?

Marauder for sure. In D3 I'll be playing a 2 handed weapon using Barb and Marauder seems to have a similar style of play so it gets my vote!

i'd play a duelist first. it's just the closest to something rouge-like and fast, so perfect for slashing hordes of foes! (marauder seems a bit slow for my taste)

cool :) have you seen the duelist gameplay trailer? When he quickly goes from one enemy to the next, appearing behind them? It looks really good.

yea it's like some teleport, too bad there arent many vids of him. all you ever see is ranger ranger ranger with some witch and a short marauder but duelist really lacks some gameplay vids on youtube. what a shame.

just hope to get my hands on some beta key soon so i can finally test it for myself ;_; (the chance for that happening is equal to winning the lottery without buying a ticket lol)

Yeah me too :) you never know though, we might get lucky eventually :)

I agree though, there isn't much anywhere of the duelist or the templar. Havent seen any videos of party play either which would be pretty nice to see.

The best way to see gameplay is to check the PoE forums for people streaming the class of your choice. I've found it hard to find more than a few seconds of Maurader gameplay in anything other than streams.

yes, the Lumin videos are really good to get an idea of what the games like, but hes playing a ranger. He has said however that he will be playing other classes soon, dunno what though! :)

I actually don't see a lot of people playing ranger with surprises me a lot! I know people usually prefer melee or ranged, but the ranger is like both combined -- it looks awesome! I think ranger is for sure my choice, especially with the population saturated with witches (would probably be my other choice, obv I prefer ranged classes). I just think life / mana leech is the best ability and it only works on physical damage apparently :x

Once I get my hands on the game I'm gonna be a mean, old Templar and trying out an unusual build, since I'm just learning the game the first time around and like to see what's possible.

Usually, people seem to specialize purely in one attribute, even with the Hybrid classes, so what I'm doing is I'm gonna spread out my skill points evenly between the 3 attributes:

- on the Strength side I'll be focussing on Melee Damage and Two-Handed-Specialization
- on the Intelligence side I'll be getting Crit and Staff Specialization
- on the Dexterity side there's nice things like Accuracy, Attack Speed, Movement Speed and even Evasion down the line, but the main focus of pumping that a bit would be to enable a higher level of green gems for things like Detonate Dead (= CE from D2 Necro) or some other nice green gems

So I'll be an old Templar blasting my enemies with cold attacks, cracking their skulls in with my migthy staff and exploding the remains of their allies into their faces.

It'll be glorious, at least on Normal difficulty. :whistling:

I'm definitely going to have to try the Witch first. Always get the urge to try magic casters first.

My first class was Marauder...because i always played for Barb in D2 ...but after i was playing for him for while..it just gets boring so i switched for Ranger...and that was quite cool change :)

Pretty much this. Hopefully in a few weeks with 0.9.3 playing marauder will be a lot more interesting ;) !

Havn't played in a while as I don't see the point in powerlevelling through that little content in various difficulties but shall pick up my toon to test again when the patch hits!
