I in-vision a class that is always on the ready with set traps for CC and debuffs for getting a desired affect on mobs, thus smart. He would make use of dexterity with the claw mastery skills we saw in the passive tree, he would be not a man looking for a fight (but will be in them) thus the evasion stuff in dexterity would be of great importance to his serviceability in the world. Who knows they might add a vanish spell to the game, them you could use passives to disappear in combat (confuse than attach from a different direction).

So a class that plans attacks ahead of time, can vanish and provide ambush skills to combat, is smart with the debuffs used on foes, is very fast, and hard to hit.

Well that somes up the class id think will be added, and Assassin seems a fitting title.

What do you all think?

seems good for strictly pvp, but you would have to have things go your way....if you were caught off guard your screwed....also pretty hard to grind loot/exp with a char built mainly on traps and debuffs. if everything did go your way, it would be a nice show.

Int / Dex is an interesting combo to say the least. I was trying to figure out what exactly the playstyle for something like this would be, but I think I agree with you on some of this. There's gotta be some element of poison / debuffing going on for sure. I'm guessing the armor type would be evasion / shields, which could work pretty well. Seems like hit and run combos would be the star here too.

i wonder if there is any videos of something like this to see it in person instead of theory crafting

Well it you get caught off guard, lay a trap the poof vanish. Allowing you to run away or attack from a spot where you feel safer. Kinda like the rogue in WOW.

Some sort of agile demonic combat mage would be great. Using dark magics to imbue/buff your attacks and debuff your enemy.

To clarify I don't mean a demon, tainted human perhaps.

Im guessing the Witch can go into dark magic already.

I was thinking it would be something like this aswell. We've heard about being able to use multi support gems for example to turn a fireball skill into a fire sentry that when placed shoots multiple fireballs at enemies. I guess kinda like a d2 trapsin would be cool! :D

That is true but it was probably more me hoping that's what it will be I guess lol. I love that style of class ala HoX from Age of Conan. Perhaps replace dark magic with poisons/DoTs etc? Inflicting disease with each venomous strike! :alright:

I am thinking towards a Trapper/Knife Thrower. Well at least i hope so, would be fun with the skill gems + passive skill tree.

it would be handy to have some "fear" spell for a trapper. (like witch doctor's?)
so you don't only rely on luring foes into traps towards you but also "push" them into the traps.

boss fights (un-fear-able?) would be a problem tho and he/she would have to use debuffs mainly. maybe poison with damage over time.

Kinda like the rogue in WOW.

I keep imagining the Duelist as the "rogue" type character in PoE. There needs to be a reason you are investing points into the Int skills -- some sort of magic / mana based moves or attacks. I think the "trap" idea fits really well to this.

I just watched the Producer video on the skill system and he said that the skills can be changed to a few things like Traps or given to minions. So I was just wondering if this is through a "Support" gem or something? Would really like some info on this.

As far as I know, this is in the "planning" stages and it's something they are looking into doing.

There would be a support gem that turns your attacks into traps that you link to your skill gems. It seems really neat, but I wonder how harsh the mana cost increase would be. On top of that, while the idea seems awesome, it can't be too powerful which might make the gem underwhelming potentially.

i think a fear spell would be pretty cool, it would be a must have for the trapper person, it would give them much needed time to set up thier traps.

My bet's on a Necromancer-themed class.

There are already spells like "Raise Zombie", "Raise Spectre" (blue gems) and "Detonate Dead" (green gem) in the game and since the devs were huge fans of D2 and the Necro isn't coming back for D3 it seems a logical choice for them to do.
