The full solicit for issue #1 reads "From the world and legends of Sanctuary, the setting for the award-winning Diablo video game, comes the tale of a hero's birth. Jacob has fled from his homelands in the north, hunted by his kinsmen for the crime of murder. Led by the visions of an ancient prophet, pursued by his childhood friend, Jacob finds his destiny in a desert cave at the foot of a mountain carved in two by the sword of an archangel-- Tyrael. But will Jacob be able to claim the sword that could save his people, if not the world, before he's brought to 'justice?'"

We saw a sketch of this before but here it is clearer and in colour:

Could be interesting although I am not a big fan of DC comics.

I hope the whole comic is done in that style. I don't really care for the over highlighting and super thick line work in most comics nowadays.

Any release date set for this comic?

According to Blizzplanet (http://www.blizzplanet.com/blog/comments/dc-comics-diablo-1-on-sale-november-23-2011) release date is November 23.

They also have a much larger version of the pic seen in my first post:

Led by the visions of an ancient prophet...

This concerns me a bit.
Correct me if I am wrong, but so far DI and DII had no prophet or prophecy of any sort and did really well without it.
Do we really need one?

In relation to the thread about Blizzards story telling it wouldn"t surprise me if we are going to have a prophecy as one of the main story parts of DIII in order to make it more epic.
I do not really know if i should be happy about it.
(Let's just hope it doesn't turn out Diablo was good all along and was trying to save us from evil hybrids ... wait, we allready are angel, demon hybrids, damn)

On the other hand, the coloured version of the cover looks good and i hope the comic will be part of the CE.

There was no mention of prophecy in game but the D2 manual did contain excerpts from the Prophecies of the Final Day (http://www.diablowiki.net/Prophecies_of_the_Final_Day)

Let's hope Diablo does not turn out to be a "good guy", I would feel guilty about killing him so many times in D1 & D2

You'd get over it. He dropped tasty loots, after all. Most of us would shiv our own mothers for a shako.
