that's a littler earlier then I thought it was going to be. So in the first 3days of August we will have more info released about the game then in the last 10 months.
We all know they will say when the beta will start as to get the investors all juiced up.

Yea, I was thinking the same.

I'm going to be in the hospital on the 3rd. :(
But I don't expect them to say when the beta will be. Just that it is "imminent". Although I've been wrong plenty of times before, and I'd certainly be happy to be wrong on that account.

I dont get the significance of this, dont they have to make a conference call at the end of the quarter, every quarter?

Yes, but lately, they've been using them to deliver big news. Such as the SC2 beta announcement, wow in-game store stuff, SC2 marketplace things, and the D3 beta window.

Its nice to know we are approaching the grand finale. After so many time!!
This game will mark a before/after for a lot of games. RPG will score and force other companies to use their heads in order to win some market share!
But screw other game companies, giveee meeee DIABLO 3!!!! :jig:

Yeah normally they hold the calls in the second week. It's either coincidence or we will be getting some good info on the beta start from the press event coming up.
This one should be where the rubber meets the road on a release window. If they say they're still targeting 2011 release then there's only the call in Nov to back peddle. Investors will not be happy with short notice like that of missing a holiday release window. I think we'll have a pretty good idea after this call if they're serious about 2011 or not.

Totally agree with you Zeek.
This conference call is not a Blizzcon, we got some investors here that dont like the "when its ready" philosophy.
This time around we can count on some solid information on this matter, we are close to the final round! Its time to show the cards!
Well like most we all have to agree that we're getting pretty close with a release day wether it is 6 months from now or not. So I highly doubt Blizzard can afford to dance around important subjects anymore. It time to put up or shut up time!

what, really? had the sc2 beta start date been announced during a conference call? the way i remember it was that they launched beta just out of the blue.
/e: this is what happened

so i guess they wouldn't be stating an exact date but rather a span of time (like "this month").
ya cant believe its almost already here - although not sure how Ill get a chance to play the beta (just remember playing the D2 better last time (maybe it was a open beta?) ...
I just found a email of a friend of mine whom messaged me in 2008 asking me if Im going to play D3 (when it was first announced) ... an ya just messaged him now saying "Ya!" he's still got the same addy after 3 years ;)
Can anyone just call in and listen.. Cause I will be if it thats the case

This time around we can count on some solid information on this matter, Don't get your hopes up, it's still Blizzard we are talking about and the last Conference call was as vague as it gets (remember the discussion about 'No Blizzard title scheduled for release next year).
Although I do agree that they should confirm their 2011 release date, keep in mind that it has never been confirmed during a conference call, so when it comes to the investors, they have no release date in mind in the first place (yet).

That was the case last time

What? They don't have a "confirmed" release date in mind, but the past two conference calls have both told them the target is for a 2011 release IIRC.
Direct quote from this site's coverage of the previous conference call:
On the Diablo III front, I am pleased to report that we begun internal company-wide testing last week. The game is looking great and we are currently targeting a Q3 launch for external beta testing. The development team is working hard to try and launch Diablo III this year.
So, when it comes to investors the only thing they have any reason to believe is that the game is targeted for a 2011 release.
