Definitely will be playing again and there will be no sub fees for the game.

It's been a long wait.

Apparently, they've made it into a micro-transaction game and tweaked it such that its not worth playing without the micro-transactions in copious amounts.

Beta keys are available. At least they were yesterday. Check out the thread at our Hellgate site: http://hellgate.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=39328#post39328

Niiice.

I discovered the game after the servers went down. :( SP wasn't much fun at all alone.

Never mind, the beta keys aren't even being offered anymore.

I didn't know those forums were still up intact. Apparently I still have 368 posts there. Deja vu?

I am not sure if I want to get back into HGL, the havoc it wreaked on me last time was pretty severe. If the load times are fixed and the lag problems repaired, I guess a reinstall might happen. We gonna run a group/guild/clan/loose organization?

I refuse to play any game where real currency is built in as a way to become more powerful. It's in the soul of gaming to separate the players from their material means.

But won't you feel more accomplished without wasting a penny and getting to th same level as others who did?

I got my beta key last night so now I'm patiently waiting for the CBT to start.

So far I'm having fun with it.

I cannot get the T3Fun website to work, so I had to spend in-game money to buy the act 3-5 ticket so now I have access to everything. Would like to work that out when the shared stash goes live however =/.

I will settle for my Single Player version.

Always wanted to play this game, but it went down before I even got a chance to try.

The original version was better.

I will settle for my Single Player version.

I will say that there's no debating that the old single player version was superior in terms of mechanics.

The alpha ravagers don't jump anymore (lame).

However, the new game actually has incorporated content that makes you really, really be good to complete solo. More often than not, you're going to have to team up to complete a few bits of it.

They've added a ton of content to the high end (or at least I never saw it before). They also took out a lot of the irritation and fixed a lot of the broken stuff.

I remember this game having sooooooo much potential, but it went down in flames before i even had the chance to buy it.

How much will this game cost?

Zarniwoop

Nothing.

I've paid exactly zero dollars.

I just don't use the in-game store for any reason.

One of the few games I actually bought the collectors edition....what a let down :(

Alright so...because I'm a gaming feign I start pondering hellgate london again.....

Anyone who is currently playing this, is it any better now?
Is it truly worth re-downloading?
A scale of 0-10 would be great on a personal opinion basis only.

I personally give it an 8. But, that's pretty useless because almost no one has the same preferences.

If you hated it before, there's no reason you would like the game now. None.

This really doesn't change my opinion of the game. It really had no right to have sub fees in the first place.

I am looking for personal opinions and I do know that they vary from person to person, my idea is to get a general assessment if its worth my time or not. I didn't dislike it before, but there were some issues. I'm just determining if I want to play it as I am indecisive.

I enjoyed the SP of HGL. I was always hoping a crack would show up that would let me continue to play it that way.

I bought the Collector's Edition of this game back when it first came out. I was pre-occupied then, so I never got the chance to play it. Turns out, my bought-with-real-money installation discs won't even patch... I have to download the game from the site now that it's f2p. Did they change the entire game around or something?

Anyways, I'll give it a try now since I'm free. Anyone wanna join?

The new one is a completely new thing. Your old discs won't work.

Just download and play. However, you still need to buy two tickets (either with money or with ingame coin) to be able to get pass Act 2 and Tokyo.

However, we don't take kindly to pokemon pictures.

Can you get in-game coins for free? Is there any aspect that costs money? In-game vanity?

ThunderCat
10-12-2011, 21:53
The cash shop has various items ranging from looks up to skills points, stat points and items that make your life easier.

> However, you still need to buy two tickets <

So I still need to spend real life cash to progress in the game?

> The cash shop has various items ranging from looks up to skills points, stat points and items that make your life easier. <

And cash isn't limited to vanity, but aspects that possibly improve PvP winning chances?

:badteeth:

Clarify before I give this game my terribad stamp? :D

ThunderCat

You don't need to spend RL money. Some items, including the above mentioned tickets, can be bought from other players with ingame coin (Palladium).

As for your second question, yes.

Thanks for the info. I'm browsing the site, but I can't find the store which shows the prices of these upgrades. I mean, if it's useless quibbles (~$0.50 USD), I wouldn't mind playing, but otherwise...

ThunderCat

The cash shop is only available ingame.

I haven't spent a dime in game.

Taking a break currently, but I've enjoyed it.

I miss a few very minor changes that made the original single player more challenging, but there's TONS of new content (or at least content I never saw).

Its a lot better than a lot of the rubbish people are raving about in my opinion.

How much are prices for items? What's the most OP class that's gg in PvP too?

[edit] Started with a Marksman. Can one of you pwease link me to a gg guide that tell me exactly how to build my Marksman so that she's super OP? :D

[edit2] Never mind, I think I'm doing something like this (http://www.hellgatelondon.de/hellgate-charplanner/en-marksman.html?s=00500a00700000070000a00a000). I did a quick read-through, and it seems like skills above the cap don't work, and +2 skills is relatively easy to come by, so leaving everything at cap-2 is gg?

Also I've already started, if either one of you would like to come join and help a noob out that'll be great. :P

I'm playing a summoner and I've had a lot of fun.

Be prepared for 1 or 2 blocking quests that almost require a group (unless they've been retuned) in your mid-late thirties.

Other than that you can solo the entire way.

I've seen videos of summoners soloing the game's end boss. I'm sure other classes have managed it also, but I didn't go looking.

Know of any links that will give me thorough info for this game (e.g. likewise to Diablo 2's Arreat Summit or Diablo Wikia)? I'm really confused and I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. I searched up HGG's website's forum, but the information is really limited.
