Coolest and Ugliest runes - have you ever thought about that? der=

I was looking at the pics of the artist that made the full set of runes from Diablo II from the diablo:Incgamers front page, and it brought to mind something that goes through the back of my mind while playing (especially running Countess for runes). That is, some runes are way cooler looking that other runes. Now, keep in mind, I've only seen up to Gul in-game, but I've obviously seen imagery of other runes in forums and websites.

So I am wondering if there's ever been a poll of what runes look cool vs what runes look ugly in people's taste.

For me, I'll stick to runes that I've seen in-game (El-Gul):

Coolest: Ko - just love that design
Cool: Io, Gul, Ist, Mal, Amn, Eld
Meh: Sol, Lum (these look very similar), Thul, Shael
Ugly: Ith, Eth, El, Fal, Ort, Um
Ugliest: Pul

Out of the runes I've seen in-game the best/coolest looking is Mal in my opinion.

Out of all of them I will have to say Zod. Love how it looks like Sonic the hedgehog or some other thing with two eyes and a radical hairdo.

Off topic: I take it the Countess is still holding on to her Vex RobbyD. Be strong! :)

My favorite would definately have to be Lo, with Shael being a close second. As far as ugly runes go it's a toss-up betwen Zod and Amn.

I like Ist and Sur. When I see Ber, I sometimes think it's like Ken's hadouken moment :D

I am in need of one more Ber rune, so it is atm the most beautiful and also the ugliest of all the runes to me :)

Seriously though, i specialy like the design of ohm, ist, fal , lum and amn :)

When I first started playing, I could never remember the names of runes. I ended up treating them like Rorschach (ink blot) tests. Because of it, I like the pictures more than I do the names of the runes.

Ko - Ornate Bow & Arrow
Fal - DNA Strand

Tir - the path to the mountain cave on the pirate's treasure map
Eth - pharmacy (Rx)
Sol - serrated sickle
Shael - court jester

Dol - boat anchor
Hel - like TheReadMenace, I also think rose flower.

Io - (is the rune in parentheses, or are the parentheses part of the rune?)
Lum - djinni emerging from the lamp
Ko - Viking ship
Fal - oh noes, the glyph on my tal rune is "fal"ling apart!
Lem - fisherman's lure or fly
Pul - generic designed-by-committee non-profit-foundation corporate logo
- (Pul has my vote for ugliest glyph artwork)
Ist - antlers
Gul - still one more pesky eyelash to trim...
Vex - klingon battlecruiser, as depicted on a cave painting
